Loved the Irish approach to be honest. No crap talk before the game, no stupid niggle during the game. They just smashed the ABs in the tackle and the breakdown, took their chances and afterwards shook hands. What a difference to the Aussies, huh?

Folau pulled the man down with his left hand for the yellow. Can’t do that in the lineout (always pinged) and a clear cut yellow (possibly more) in the air. Cheika is a knob
-
And the panic ensues......
Better team won today hands down. Irish forwards a cut above ABs especially the loosies. Read and BBBR were really, really poor. Headless chook stuff when composure and tight test match strategy was needed. Actually, Ireland were such a better team tonight that I am not even fussed. Just nodded and clapped my hands. -
ALB and Goodhue are the next long term midfielders if they ever get a chance to form a combo.
-
You all sound like those two old judges off the Muppets. Looking forward to this. Love seeing some of the next generation come through.

Well, I am going to overreact to the overreaction and take the moral high ground over the people on the moral high ground. Shameful display of prudish douchbaggery from a lot of people. The human garbage who recorded it (well said Jegga) needs to be publicly flogged and the people "outraged" need therapy. The mothers who whine, "How am I going to explain this to my kids?", I quote CK Louis, " I don't know, It's your shitty kid. Why is that anyone else's problem?".
I am embarrassed that NZ is acting just like Murica did when Janet's boob fell out. When is consensual sex between adults a social issue?Aaron....you personally fucked up big time, was a bit of an arse to desperate disabled people, and got a few demerit points professionally but that is nothing to do with me. Good luck.

Irrelevant post:
By golly I dislike the Chiefs as a concept, their bogan/trash one-eyed supporters and especially Hamilton, worst-looking, worst-dressed female supporters in the whole comp. Yes, I said it!
Love Rennie, Brodie, Liam, Sam, etc and the brand of rugby they play. BUT have never, ever forgiven the Chiefs supporting tossers on this website who called for the Clan to be disbanded and another northern team be formed when the southern team was going through a bad patch.
"The South remembers!" -
Farrell...., well...if that isn’t white privilege I don’t know what is.
-
Bloody hell. I have only read a little on this thread and the whinging points are just nutty!
SBW had a brain fart. Straight red for me but bugger me leave out the hysterics. He'll be filthy with himself. He doesn't need anyone but the coaches to give him a serve.
Barrett was bloody good tonight.
Thought the ref got it right. The O'Brian nudge was reckless and was another yellow but the ref didn't see it. Move on.
The Lions scored the only tries, they were beauties and deserved to win the game. Ignoring numbers, they were the best team.
I have a problem with the jumping into the tackle penalty though. Bloody hell, just jump when you catch the ball and you can't be tackled. In my opinion the attacker is wrong and should be penalized for jumping. Ref correct with the current rules however. Move on.
Oooooh and Cruden kicking at the 79th minute stressed me out. -
I sent a mail to my family in NZ straight after the game saying, "Don't stop believing....oooh oooh" and now everyone from the AB coach to here on the forum are quoting the same thing.
Was a classic ding-dong highveld game against the traditional brutal foe. I loved it. The Blue Bulls (one of the best names in sports history...makes me laugh anyway) at their peak and the Boks of yesteryear played a type of game that can only be described as "blitzkrieg." High intensity, big buggers running straight, tactical kicks for the corners, never letting the opponents get organized etc. We saw a return to that last night. How many teams have been completely buried by a motivated SA side. Last night the ABs hung in there and eventually came out on top. Lucky but we'll take it.
Some thoughts I have been having recently. Big Karl T and Franks are too similar type players to play together. Big units who are strong at set piece and and do the core duties well. But not big carriers and can be exposed defensively by more fleet footed players. Moody+Franks or Karl T+ Ofa etc seem a better balance esp. defensively.
They need a 6 with a big defensive shoulder in the mould of Collins/Kaino with some go forward. I keep thinking maybe Cane is the answer there now with the resurrection of Ardie. Any chance of enticing Vermeulen to NZ?
Scott Barrett doesn't get the love he deserves on here. Big motor and doesn't take a step back. Good back up for the two greats we have at the moment.
ALB and Goodhue need to be played together to develop a combo. To my mind they are the future and the future is here.
Richie running the cutter, BFA and Rieko on the wings and Beauden Barrett at fullback needs to be tried as well. -
Damn, that was frustrating! Worst defensive effort in the 2nd half by an AB team for such a long time. Don't fucken say "glass half full" or "so negative" or any othe BS. It was shit!
-
FFS Akira is only 23. When did Kaino become a regular starter?
-
Who lit the fuse under Rieko? Bugger me that boy was on fire! Laulala.....shown previously why in ABs but tonight made his reputation.
Big shout to Wallabies though, no unnecessary niggle, just physical and really sharp on attack and defense. Genia MOM. -
Romano has been a good All Black.
-
@taniwharugby Really! The same ref who called the "Have to penalize you for tackling the man in the air because it is the rules" guy? Well, there is logic and then there are the French refs.........
-
The thing about good props is that they take a few hidings in the scrum before they become the real deal. It seems to be a rights of passage thing. I remember Steve McDowell getting absolutely monstered in SA (Cavaliers?) but came back the few years unmovable. Crockett got a beating from that scruffy Italian dude (illegally according to some but he failed to adjust). The best props learn their trade by coming up and learning from older bulls and are better for it.
-
Haha.Trial by the big screen and the involvement of the crowd. Should have just given the crowd the opportunity to put their thumbs up or down to make the decisions like in the gladiator days.
No one played poorly, they all played a pretty good game against a determined and physical opposition with a big home advantage. Surprised how well Bird went in the tight, he seems to have improved a lot. -
How strong have our propping stocks got? Big Karl is making every post a winner. Ofa is going from strength to strength. Laulala/Hames are to come back. You can't get better than Franks and Moody. Today, Ta'avao looked like he had been there for years. Perry has looked the goods every time he has come on. The scrum is becoming a huge weapon!
The only problem I have is pronouncing/spelling the names.... -
@kiwimurph said in Japan vs All Blacks:
**Mounga, Tahuriorangi and Coles seemed to be the best of the starters. Mounga and Coles need to be in the 23 next week.
Evans and Bridge best of the bench. Would like to see how both of them would go with a start but they are back to NZ unfort.**
Some great tries by Japan. Concerns remain on defence for ABs. A lot of one on one misses. I lost count of how many tackles Naholo missed.
Jordie is lucky to be in the 32 for Europe. I'm not sold fullback is his best position.
This sums it up for me as well. Jodie is only 21 so I think he&ll make a few people eat their words in the future. Not at the moment tho...

Have to get this rant off my back!
The Lions from the top (Gatland)to the players on the field had too much to say and influence about the reffing of the game. Murray/ Sexton/Farrell - just shut the fuck up and when the ref tells you to get back, have some fucken respect and do it. From my perspective, it looks like soccer antics are creeping into the game and the refs let them do it! It was unfair advantage.
I know the ABs are guilty as well with TJ needing a backhander from Reid.
By the way, who let a British or Irish person run the replays at the game? If it was a kiwi, they need a smack! Kaino spends 10 mins in the bin cos of that person. Too bloody fair! ABs won't get fair treatment away from home!Other observations:
Gats has an annoying personality. I think he suits the more dramatic northern game better.
The Welsh Lions center is an unsung hero. He is seriously good both on attack and defense.
Lions forwads ignoring the gap in the lineout in the last two tests with impunity was weird. I thought there had to be a gap.
