In the short term, and possibly for world cups you might be able to get people up... but I can't see it being a winning strategy for most rugby test matches. PLayer conditionining is different, the season is back to front, I think it is not the recipe for success.

That, and it dilutes the local comp very quickly. Will be itneresting to see how it goes for Aus, but I'm all for the ABs not going that way.

agree, bringing guys back a week out from a RC test is very different from a month or so lead in to the WC. Aus be heading down a real slippery slope if they start bringing back in numbers guys playing OS. Saying that I don't think they will. I'm expecting they'll pick exclusively from soup next year. TBH they don't need to anyway. Reckon they have enough talent in soup comp to pick from. -

It seems weird considering that we always seem to play the long game and they target a good start. They always seem far more 'up' than us in that opening match.

Just realised that we aren't even playing at fortress Eden Park this year. Talk about making it even tougher.

Yes there is a reason. ARU struck a ten year deal to always have first bled test in Sydney. Unsure what commercials the nzrfu get out of it but I'm pretty sure there is some financial incentives to the nzrfu to give up that game every year. -

i'm going to call Arse, ManC, ManUre, Spuds

Will two foreign teams really draw 60,000 in Chicago? I would say it depends how many Irish go across.

it will sell out no doubt in my mind. Anyone else other than the ab's maybe not. But abs v anyone will sellout I reckon.

Supposedly the Eagles are playing the Maori at Soldier Field the night before.

Can't say I'm a fan of the ABs vs Ireland fixture. If the All Blacks are willing to play Tests in America then play the Eagles. They're essentially whoring the States for their massive population to fill the stands and fill the NZR coffers. If I were an US rugby fan I'd feel a little used and abused.

I know it makes financial sense for NZR but yeah, all seems a bit odd to me.

don't know about US fans being concerned. We had our exec leadership in town this week. One in particular was raving about the AB's and the haka and went to the last game in the US with his 8yo. Absolutely in awe of the ab's. He didn't even know the US played in the WC! Reckon it works for everyone. Nzrfu makes coin which is a necessary evil, rugby gets exposure in the US and the Eagles get a game in which they shouldn't get pumped in. -

So exactly what are these game changing ref errors? Cause I certainly missed them.
-
Was Smith trying to milk a penalty from Whitelock? Looked cynical and deliberate to me......;)
-
Kepu's rake across Skuds face, what the fuck was that all about. Saw it again in the highlights of Nonu's try. Very dodgie. Deserves a citing IMO.

Still very good. Just not his normal awesome.

still can't believe i'm 5" taller than the average and i'm hardly tall.

Oh yeah. I don't know if anyone noticed this cracker graphic from the DT. Look at the average height of both the AB and Wob backs!

And the height of the Aussie forwards explains why they got done in the lineouts I suppose.

average back 5 foot 6....surely not. Friggin midgets !
-

The one around halfway, centre-field? I watched it a few times, couldn't be conclusive, then went with initial reaction of probably lost forward. Happy to accept otherwise though, now we are down to just 1 decision that went our way...

yeah same one. Definitely inconclusive...one of those i reckon you can read whatever you want into depending on your bias. Anyway i looked at it a number of times and it was messy but convinced it wasn't a knock on and NO is right there and let it run.
-

I thought there 2 decisions that went our way in the first half, the forward pass and the missed knock-on. They happened pretty close to each other, and just as we were really starting to get momentum on the park and the scoreboard - not saying they caused the momentum because neither led directly to anything of substance, but the timing made it worse. Aside from that, I don't think we got any rub of the green, the rest was fairly balanced with a few arguments from both sides for unclear offenses.

No way Foley was in front, forget the stills and go back to the video, he was totally fine.

where is the missed knock on? i recall one that seemed it but after watching it numerous times last night it wasn't. Was a poor pass that hit Skuds/B Smith?? foot before he picked it up? They shot to Cheika and he was having a bit of a tanty but it wasn't a knock on. Is that the one?
-

You know I've seen this mentioned a few times so had to go and watch it 3-4 times to see what people were on about.

What a beat up. Whitelock makes a tackle and there is a collision of bodies. There was no ruck but just Mitchell falling over Sam. Nothing more to it.

too funny. First time i've heard this. Just looked at. How can anyone say that was a deliberate trip.....
-
It really was a superb play. Just saw it again on the replay. Dummy runner sucks in wobs defenders and a long pass for A Smith allows Smith to get outside the defence, nice little in an away draws Kurandrani in and rest is history. Beautifully simple. Superb !

Worth getting into the AB coaches hands.

yep I think Moala has all the makings of a stellar ab career and can chart a path very similar to Nonu in the ab environment. Needs to add some strings to his bow, which I think he will over time. but the raw ingredients definitely are there.

he did say toddy told him there's a spot there if he wants it....wtg? Called into the blues as injury cover? Now that would be awesome he is only 34 and playing as good as he ever has. If he wanted to he could play on. Reckon he probably wouldn't want to go around another soup season though. Read capt and Richie off the bench
