That BOP backline is certainly one of the strongest in the comp but that pack looks lightweight and average, can't see them winning this one.

Are James Marshall and Dan Perrin still coaching at Mako$? If so their appointments as Crusaders coaches is truly hilarious.

This season so far has been a small number of games spread over a long period of time.
The southern hemisphere test season is like that every year and it's bizarre because Super Rugby goes for a couple months and is basically over before it's started, it's not we're doing a 28-round club season like France and heading straight into internationals, no we have guys getting paid for spending whole weeks often two at their family homes in middle of the rugby championship and also after the June series, it wouldn't look stupid if NPC started in July after SR finals finish, then some AB squad members could be dropped in and out for continuity and keeping game sharp.

Narawa is skilled but doesn't seem quite physical enough for 13.
Rona on the other hand looks AB quality 13.

It will be a fucking farce if Razor selects Ennor and Havili ahead of Daniel Rona.

Man this Bulls team has won everything under Neil Barnes, the championship, premiership and the log of wood and looking likely to win another grand final this year too. Why isn't Barnes a coach in demand at the moment?
-
@frugby How can it be profitable to travel all that way for a 2-game tour?
They are taking a 10 person management team and 30 players, like at least play more games and make it a worthwhile trip for everyone involved?
-
Lol, flying all that distance for just 2 games is such a waste of staff and resources... why would they not play more games? some players will be flying halfway around the world for grand total 20 mins of rugby off the bench, how is limited opportunities like this supposed to keep players in the country? Oh gee I'm not taking that overseas contract cause I get to play half a game for the All Blacks XV. Should probably be 4 games really.

I'm not claiming it's a bible but you should be able to get an indication and support of an idea in stats but there isn't any indication in these stats that support the negative comments about Savea . There is nothing to suggest that Savea has been poor, dropping the ball more than others, and lacking impact. There's plenty to support that for Sam Cane.
Cane has been poor for me no doubt but Savea has too .
Scott Robertson needs to use his bench earlier. Give the players 25-30 minutes from the bench not 15-20 minutes. When our bench comes on, the opposition bench has already gained momentum and finish stronger. Playing forwards beyond 60 minutes is poor coaching. Robertson need to be questioned and challenged by the media on his bench timing.

They were all bad mismanaged along with Steve Luatua
Luatua and Piutau would have plugged big holes in our 2019 squad.
Charlie Faumuina for one of those middling 2019 props as well?

I'm still not convinced about Ardie Savea's place in this team looking at the long-term going forward, I think NZ's backrow will continue to get outplayed against the top sides with him at 8, especially as he's only getting older and less effective.
The Hurricanes had their best season in 8 years off the platform of their back row functioning a lot better than last year and appearing much more cohesive without his individualistic headless 'cannonball' style clogging up every play...
He has to transition into a Kwagga Smith-type utility bench option if he's to make it through to the 2027 World Cup.

@Jet Think a big casualty will be Billy Proctor come EOYT.
On what basis? Best performing centre all year in Super, one of the standout players in his one start against Fiji. I guess Razor doesn't like players that consistently perform to a high standard, instead he prefers players that spend half of their career broken or alternatively players who have experience but are about 5 years past their best.
No wonder the All Blacks don't have the mana and the winning % they once used to.
Hey mate, I mentioned you in an earlier post, was wondering about hearing your thoughts as a Canes fan.

Clarke's position in the squad is now tenuous
More like Telea who's 28 and past it now, Clarke is peaking and will only get better - same with LF, he's only 23.

I have a question that one of the Hurricanes posters @canefan @Canes4life etc. might be able to shed some light on.
Who was responsible for coaching the attack off set-piece or first phases at the Hurricanes - was it only Blyeendaal or did Holland have some contribution as well? l know Blyeendaal had the title of attack/backs coach while Holland was the head coach, the reason I ask is because I've been looking through Hurricanes clips from 2021-2023 compared to 2016-2020 and there seems to be a noticeable difference in their strike moves around the period Blyeendaal joined the Canes, a bit more off the ball movement, deception and switch plays., I've heard that Blyeendaal is very highly rated and Leinster narrowed him down as the best candidate in their worldwide search for a new attack coach. So what input did Holland have into their attack? Did he oversee the unstructured attack while he was the head coach?
-
@Canes4life for the all important 10th ranked Wallabies (Fiji moved up to 9th on Sunday)?
It's too bad the All Blacks can't depend on a world-class assistant like him when the team actually needs one - you know like over in South Africa and on the Northern tour.... Razor in his foolishly misplaced loyally to Holland and McDonald ignored Tony Brown who was open to offers in 2024.

@Landers92 yes, for Canterbury he has lots, and at the end of games for Crusaders he's finished there.
Razor in his Crusaders days said he had potential to be a great 12.
I don't rate him that highly.. but he's got a point of difference due to his physical dimensions, similar to a young Jordie - he's filled out a bit more now... also massive boot on the kid - and very long levers providing good offloading platform from 12.
It's not like he's not going to play but he's a good squad pick since he covers 11-15.
You’re drunk. He doesn’t play 12. He predominantly plays winger because he has never been able to nail down the 15 jersey, he’s even been kicked to the wing for Canterbury this year. Interested to hear your take on that one… You’re only kidding yourself by trying to justify him being pulled into the squad when there are multiple better players out there than him mate. End of.
He's only there for squad cover, honestly who gives a flying fuck, I've saved my energy for lamenting the shit selections that Razor is making with his actual 23 and woeful bench management. Fiyaki is simply there to hold tackle bags, this is meaningless in the grand scheme. I'm far more concerned about the direction of this team's attack and defensive structures under the underqualified Super Rugby coaches Holland and Ellison.

What does Fihaki's call up mean for someone like Stevenson?
because he's got similar dimensions to Jordie (102kg over 192cm) and plays 12 unlike Stevenson?

The experienced players and so called leaders have sucked in Wellington the last 5 tests or so there
Let the youngsters have a crack. They can hardly do worse
That's a good point, they don't carry the mental baggage from all the previous losses there.
It's also the most established guys like Ardie, TJ, Dmac, ALB, Taylor, etc. who're not executing during key moments.
