Chapman top scorer then Extras with a handy knock. Not much else from anyone else.
All a bit disappointing really.
Also disappointing is the summer and the lack of cricket this year. That is it for the home summer apparently.

Two of the most maligned NZ cricketers needing to manage the rebuild. I've slapped a cheeky $50 on Braces to top score.
There’s some beer money gone
Indeed. That's punting though. Stoked to see Chapman look so good.
Chapman almost always looks amazing when he's in and playing classical shots. He's a very gifted cricketer.
If he gets us out of this I won't ever doubt him again.

Looks like we'll have a score to chase today
I hope so. Be good to see a big chase for us in the evening. I want to win but I also want to be entertained.
We should have scored another 30 or 40.
On the other hand at this stage it looks like enough.
Very typical Chapman innings there. Good 50 and then gets out softly.
Good stuff from these Chapman and Ravindra. Chapman looks a million bucks as he often does until he gets out meekly. This could be his chance to go on and get a really big one

@Damo they chased 324 on the last day at the Gabba in 21. I gave them no charge at the time. T20 had affected teams ability to score quickly for sustained periods

That's fair but it doesn't change my thinking. If India have a great day they could do it I suppose. Would be a remarkable effort under pressure.
If Australia want to win then they may need to risk losing.

Australia have taken the win out of reach. I can't see India chasing down 333 in Day 5 of a test in Melbourne. But can they last out 90 overs without losing all ten wickets? All the pressure is on India.
Quick slog for Goat and ScoBo tomorrow morning. Literally get India in the field and guessing about the declaration.
If we last long enough, declare halfway through Bumrah's 1st or 2nd over for the day and put them in.
We'll lose half an hour but it could be mentally useful.
I think it's less useful than having more overs with the second new ball. Every over used up is an over leas they will have after the 80 overs and they can take the new ball.
Declaration overnight means they don't lose 2 overs for the change in innings. That's what I would do.
As I understand the position, India's chance of winning is slim to none and Aussie really need to win this game. If India can chase down 333 on day 5 that will be a great effort but I don't see it as something to fear.
Good recovery. If it's close that brilliant last over could be crucial. Masterful last over from a spin er.
Good review for LBW though.
2 absurd reviews for runouts. Are umpires not allowed to make decisions on runouts any more?
Need the get a move on, though if these guys get set they can up the rate pretty quick.
Give it one more over of nudging it around.

Yeah I'm on Steve Waugh's side on the nightwatcher. The best case scenario is you get through to stumps without another wicket and then have an awkward start the next morning as a tail ender tries to hang around.
A tail ender hanging around while the best bowlers and the pitch are at their freshest in the morning is part of the point.
I am going to go against the trend and argue that generally the night Watchman is a good idea.
Haha Aussie with one of the worst reviews I've seen.
Ball went nowhere near the glove (or any part of the body for that matter).
Game has shifted dramatically in 15 minutes. India need a partnership.

Technically out but that is a rough one. That barely clipped the varnish.
Was it missing?
Who would know? The technology is not accurate enough to make a call like that.

England have the best part of 200 overs to get these runs. Getting these runs means scoring about 3.5 an over. Slogging out when facing a few overs in fading light after a long day in the field is total bonkers.
Surely he will get some stick for that in the changing room.
That is incredibly irresponsible batting to try and slog the 4th ball you face across the line.
Bazball is all well and good but that is madness.
