Website is updated with Week 6 results. Broughie hit the season best mark with 74 points, 8 from 8 picks and 6 with margins. Also going 8/8 were Joan and Mary, Hurrycanes, Phooey and Waynes World. Triple T leads by just 4 from Joan and Mary with Broughie just 2 points back. 3 weeks to go.
The Bush and Hawke's Bay are into the play-offs, BOP will need to beat Counties to be sure and South Island hold 4th but need to beat the Bush to be sure of holding off Harbour-Auckland. Wellington made it 6 losses out of 6 but are still above Northland who beat them.
Quarter-finals of the Cup coming up after some close games - Crucial and Bay Boy Tim getting through by just a point.

A few had faith in the Taniwha finally winning a game - most impressive being Hooroo who tipped them 17+. His tips suggest he may just have closed his eyes but he ended up with 40 points which is not too bad. Broughie & NZZP also backed Northland as well as Kev, Sontumhill & Hayden of the Northland team - who not surprisingly also won only their 2nd game.
Wellington avoided defeat for the first time by ending the Bush's winning run, South Island thrashed Hawke's Bay to take 3rd spot while Counties-Waikato beat an abject BOP to finish 6th overall, with BOP crawling into the semis with 4 of the worst 7 scores for the week.
Broughie has bounced back into the lead, 5 clear of Joan and Mary, Triple T falls from 1st to 3rd. Sontumhill 57, Gunner 56 and Hydro 54 were the only ones to pass 50 with Gunner and Hydro moving up into 6th and 9th respectively.
In the TSL Cup, Gunner will play Langakali in one semi, Hurrycanes will play Joan and Mary in the other one.

My reasoning for backing Northland. The odds of losing again were getting smaller. They were playing Waikato who had just lost the shield and were emotionally knackered. I pretended it was a multiple quess test and the first thing that came to my head was Northland even though it was followed by a question mark in my thought bubble.
-
my reasoning for backing Northland was, well, I didn't...I think I have twice this season and maybe 1 time last year, got burnt enough to think if we win, sweet, if not, at least I'll get points in the more important TSF tipping comp!
-
With just 2 rounds left, time for some deep analysis.
Strangely enough, the top 4 teams and semi-finalists are the same teams as last season - and they finished in the same positions. Wairarapa Bush were unbeaten last season and haven't lost yet this season, their draw with Wellington last week was the closest they have come to defeat. The last time they lost a game was the 2014 final, 30-29 to Wellington.
Onto the individual battle - let's review the top 10 (11) and their prospects.
Stargazer 330. New to tipping but 4th in Super tipping and won the TSF Cup and so must still be a chance in this comp. May be a little far back to win.
Dogmeat 330. Has been in every tipping comp with little success to date. Was flirting with the lead earlier in the season and immediately collapsed.
Hydro11 334. The reigning Super tipping champ who has struggled for consistency this time around.
Hurrycanes 336. Always near the top with a 6th place finish in Super tipping - can't be ruled out.
Virgil 336. Has had the odd good season but may find this too lofty a position to hold onto.
Gunner 338. Rose sharply by predicting a Northland win last week. Can he carry that momentum onwards?
Victor 340. 2nd overall in NPC last season and in 2013 - has to be a good bet to go one better this time.
Plastered Peni 346. Has done well in NPC in the past, never been in the top 3 though and may fall away?
Triple T 349. Top 10 finish in Super tipping and last season's NPC - part of the Bush team pushing to retain their title.
Joan and Mary 352. Has been in every comp and has only rarely had a top 10 finish - surely this is a step too far?
Broughie 357. Crashed from the top in Week 5 and then hauled himself back up. Had strong seasons in the last 2 tipping comps. His to lose I reckon with points in the bag. -
20 minutes into the weekend and the scorelines read like the half-times in the football. Easy to list who picked a winner correctly.
Manawatu: Unite, Justin77, FarNthHayden
Ta$man: Bay Imports, African Monkey, Phooey, CorkscrewAbsentee tippers are Hooroo, Midge and Chaz - still time to submit your tips as most people are still on zero.
Wairarapa Bush 0 - 1 BOP
Hawke's Bay 0 - 2 South Island
Harbour-Auckland 0 - 0 Wellington
Counties-Waikato 2 - 2 NorthlandGunner 0 v 0 Langakali
Hurrycanes 0 v 0 Joan and MaryI won't post the top 10 given that none of them have scored a point yet.

Half-time in the semi-finals and BOP have sneaked into a narrow lead as the Bush showed some love for Northland. HB and South are locked in a tie. 20-20 apiece in both the Cup semi-finals so titanic second halves in prospect. Joan and Mary have edged ahead of Broughie overall as Broughie backed Northland but the gap is still only a single result across the top 3.
For the week so far, African Monkey and Justin77 lead with 25.

well if you'd had any sense you coulda checked that only 2 of the Northland tippers picked us to win (and one has done that every week anyway) to realise that we were no show...think it has been about 13 or 14 years since we have won down there as well
-
@taniwharugby Hey I thought they had maybe turned a corner and could feed off their success last week. I gave them too much credit and I forgot they wear that god awful powder blue jersey.
