Tab often slow for Aus non metro meets. Will have it tomorrow sometime for sure

Just throwing this in here, genuinely curious (and worried...).
What is the presumed issue here causing the uptick in deaths? First of all, is it an uptick? (Some evidence suggests otherwise.) Is it the hard dirt tracks in America? Is it the in-breeding? Have comparable numbers of deaths increased in NZ, Aus, Japan and/or Europe?
It’s a scary thing but you just know the SJW/PETA crowd (as below) are trying to kill the sport Stateside.

The sword of Damocles hanging over horse racing appears no idle threat. “Californians will end horse racing at the ballot box,” promised animal rights activist, April Montgomery, at a California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) meeting in May. It’s not just the racing industry in California that animal rights activists have set their sights on. “We’re going to end it, and it’s going to start with California,” Montgomery warned.

@antipodean TAB didn't open a book on Cairns so they saved me hundreds!

The bookies haven't cut me off for a reason.....the 13 years of mug betting previously!
Speaking of bookies cutting us off, I lost ladbrokes this week. Taken some big wins off them previously but got account back and all was well but now limited for no reason. The livechat discussion got heated (on my side anyway) and now I have about $25 in the account and the bets are not being accepted at all!
So add that to Neds in the no category for now. A mate of mine got chopped from 365 during the netball world cup. Took $35k off them in about 5 days then bam the email came through. Set an account up in his partners name and won $3k then bam gone again. Must have linked them through IP addresses or betting analytics.
Really interesting. An extremely wealthy professional gambler (he's well known in Aus) got cut off from all of them. Started using betfair - I believe that the odds are set by other punters so nobody actually sets the odds? Anyway the guy is a multimillionaire and maths genius, so there is hope for you gamblers (if you are either of those).
He also ditches his hot girl friends when they hit 19 years old. He's probably about 60 now.

The Whitney Stakes ran yesterday at Saratoga in NY (best race course in America). The purse is not huge — only a million dollars — but the prestige in American racing is huge. Outside of the Breeders Cup, it is the highest rated race (along with the Kentucky Derby) on the continent. Mile-and-1/8 on the dirt for three-year-olds and up. Godolphin scratched their entry late. Top trainer Bob Baffert won his first Whitney, and was choked up in the post-race interview. Good to see.

Update: Trainer reaching in to his book of excuses came out with "coming back from injury" and "shit ride from the jockey"
So i watched the replay, and you know what, he might even know what he is talking about. The midget fuck on the back fucked us. She jumps great and for some reason he pulls her back deep in to the field, to the point she is 2nd last entering the straight. She actually starts to make a heap of ground late, gets blocked by a horse wandering over the track, and he just pulls her up. Fuck that midget!
This whole game is fucking rigged.

Teach the midget a lesson in the car park. Just hope no bystander thinks you're giving a kid a flogging.

Ricky Baker is back and well. He trialled yesterday and won, so he is off to Taupo with Mr Pickles in two weeks.
Polly back at Te Rapa next Saturday.
-
@JK said in Rough tips and other bets...:
@Hooroo Polly still got a run or two left in her this campaign then?
Ran on well on the weekend!
Yes, I thought she was going to be freshened up after her last start as I thought that was the last Saturday at Te Rapa for a while but it's next weekend.
She ran awesome last two starts.
-
Pols drew 9 of 11 which is good. Don't want her to get as far back this time.
Steps up to Rating 82 company but should cope with the class rise easily in my opinion.
-
Great win today and deserves a good couple of weeks in the paddock.
She has had a super prep.
Gonna be a big mudda pukken night!!!!

That’s awesome.

Yeah bro, nice accidental name drop too. 😆
Ricky over 1100 I think. Going to treat as a trial as drawn 12 and that gate has never been won from over this distance at Taupo.
Mr Pickles is in a maiden race with a R 75 and R74 horse!!!! No fucking chance.
I see there was a nominated horse in the R65 that is R82!!!! Would carry 67.5 kg!!! Not sure if they accepted.
Mickey thinks Pols can get Black Type. Hear is hoping as he never talks up horses

In other news, beteasy have taken my promos away by the looks.
Usually get a bet return each day (4 on saturdays) so bet up to $50 and get the stake returned as bonus bets if 2nd or 3rd. I hit it every day with the best thing I can find. By the weekend I've usually got some winnings to play with or if not then plenty of bonus bets (plus 4 bet returns). Pretty much what I do every week.
Gonna have to hit them up on the old chat today

FYI, I have a small share in Some Do, who makes her debut in R1 at 5.58pm on Friday night at Alexandra Park. She's top pick with the Alex Park tipster (Aaron White) so will be lucky to be at more than $3 on the night. She's drawn 6 over a mile (which isn't easy for her to get into it on a 1000m track), but she's been hitting the line very nicely in her workouts, so is likely to be saved for one run & can pick them up if she's near enough on the turn.

Mr Pickles and Ricky Baker running today at Taupo. Ricky a bit wide in the draw to win I think but may surprise. Mr Pickles on last chance saloon

Cheers Smudge. TAB have $ back for 2nd or 3rd (up to $30) on that race so makes it an easy choice!

I'mm glad she ran third for you then! The draw undid her, with her main rival drawn 1. Scott Phelan couldn't flush out a horse to drag her up, but she zipped home nicely. Not a bad thing either that she didn't win - never easy to win on debut then go straight into racing in the grades against hardened horses.

Ricky Baker fresh up today. Bit of a rusty draw but he looks well and his gallops have been excellent. For me the place value of $2:15 is really good value.

Nice! Not drinking for a couple months so beer money is now race money. Put on $20 to win at $4.50 and $50 to place. Its a boring day in the office so hopefully this brings a bit of excitement.

Gee $4:50 is starting to get a bit short or do you get your $1back as well so making it equivalent of $5:50 on NZ Tote
