Yeah, if someone is going to get Aussie home, it's going to be that wankpuffin.

Wankpuffin -
Interesting contrast. Dhoni post match: "Our batsmen got themselves out. It's all the batsmens fault" (paraphrasing). Smith post match: "Credit to the way the NZ bowlers bowled in the middle stages".

I want to hate Smith because he's so fucking good but he isn't making it easy. -
Has his moments ... -

Timmy and Trent rush back tot he nets to practice their cutters, slower balls and back of the hand deliveries because that's what gets Mitch and Milne the nod

Milne was actually good today. He's quicker than most and that sets up his cutter from the side of his hand. The dramatic pace change. Those 2 he bowled to Maxwell (he's not so bright me thinks) were pretty much spot on but french cuts don't show up in stats (copyright MN5).

Hats off Hesson and Kane.

Batting still needs more ones and twos in the middle and ultra energetic running, but I don't know what pitches are like in the next 2 games.

Happy times though
-

Yep keep Milne unless/until he breaks down.

Always handy to have up your sleeve for blasting out lusty tailenders; especially now that T&T no longer have the raw pace required to do so.
-

God SA are murdering the poms

-

decent 50 over score

6th highest T20 total of all time
-

And now England looking to chase it down in 10 overs.

-

Just a heads up, there are some decent highlights packages at www.cricinfo.com

-

Why are we playing on rolled mud & the others are playing on roads? Its fucking Suzie all over again

If England are going home after 2 games. KP will be tweeting his tnumbs off.... Butler is going to have to go mental soon

I was thinking that about the wickets, but quite ok to see Ind and Oz off on non roads. We got the pakis and a chance to make it at Chandigar - no idea about that surface, but in Kane we trust
-

Want SA to prevail simply because that'd probably mean the World Cup Grand Slam for England...

Football, Rugby and 2 crickets - failed to get out of the pools in all of them :mocking:
-

Wow South Africa blew it and England had a terrific root

My schadenfreude will have to wait -

That is a cracking chase by England.... tho' jeez the last over

-

Really thrilling match, but both teams bowled like school children. Full toss after wide after full toss...

Yeah - can't recall if we were seeded to make the semifinals - but, regardless I'm sure most people's expectations were that India and Oz would make it. Odds-on now that at least one of those teams will miss out. Guaranteed if we beat either Pakistan or Bangladesh.
-

That Santner and Sodhi are reasonable...

Too right Don!

Their margins for error (four/six balls) are so small. For sure both teams would have planned to target them (especially a raw leggie) and simply haven't been able to. Santner showed when Marsh pummeled his half volley that he only needs to be a foot off and they'll whack it, yet for basically 2 games he wasn't a foot off.

Similarly as a Kohli, Maxwell, Marsh etal facing up to Ish must be thinking, "Ok here goes this'll be good Short I'll go way back, flighted I'll go down the track, or maybe I'll just stand and put it over cover", Sodhi gave them nothing. Nothing.

His pace through the air and his short of a length (combined with decent spin surface) was exemplary. In the end Maxwell basically panicked and tried to play left handed - that's not "well that's how he plays and when it comes off we love it so we have to put up with the failures", that's just "Waaaaa I'm supposed to smash this guy and I can't!"

Should have sent out gloves to him with the instruction "rock back and play him for one and two through the covers with a straight bat you fucken dolt. Then you, Gap tooth and NTA's favourite will hit the big shots at the end"

Just brilliant skill execution from two inexperienced bowlers against the best teams in the world in the biggest tourney of their lives.

Can't ask for much more than that!
-

I loved the camera shot of Milne's catch of Marsh with Smith and the rest of the Aust team in the background. Contrasting emotions. Excellent fielding in the deep to back up the bowlers. Well done BCs.

Sodhi is proving to be an inspired selection when you consider he wasn't even certain of making the squad until the performance in Hamilton vs Aust.

A huge game tomorrow when India host Pakistan. If India lose they're probably out.
-

Yeah, think I'll watch Ind pak. Actually an Indian win helps us, but a Paki win will be delightfull. win win for us :)

Back in the day this was the Everest of match fixing, in fact a guy (ed Hawkins) wrote a whole book based on their 2011 WC game. Today it may be different - hope so
-

They call the BCs pool the "Pool of Death" ( fuck I hate that cliché ) but so is the other one. I mean SA on their day can quite easily beat the Windies who hammered England, would not be surprised in the slightest if that happened.

Shit this tourney is cool, fucken hating the time zones though, I slept through half the Aussie innings, no chance for this old fluffybunny for a 3am start.
-

I think the Aussies just don't respect us. If they just knuckle down and go for the singles then they probably get home. It seems like they always want to push their foot into our faces and finish us off with big hitting.

-
^ honestly, I thought Virgil would be the first one to come out with the DUSRISPICT!!! stuff
-

Aussies juust like giving us the W in the round robin, and then beating us in the games that really matter..

Based on reading that book I can't see a Pakistani win, tho it will be close to make it seem legitimate.

Possibly the Indian govt and the Pakistani mafia involved too -

It's either that, coincidence or a lack of cricketing intelligence. How many times in limited overs cricket are the Aussies going to let us in a game by slogging out? Even in the World Cup final, Warner got out to a shot he should not have played.
-
I'll go with option C. Too much thinking "Maxi/Marsh/Faulkner will get us there".

That said, a couple of really good catches in the last over -

Yeah the only disrespect Australia are guilty of is disrespecting the game and what's worked for 150 years

They've had a diet of good paced pitches, and methods where if you hit the ball hard enough to go for 4 or 6 you'll generally score 160 plus BBL and home series.

It wasn't until it was too late that Smith and co thought along the lines of, we should be nudging it around on this packed, rolled mud square, as evidenced by his after match comments. As it was they nearly pinched the game with 2 overs to go. It required good percentage bat on ball contact, rather than brute force and lavish swinging

Play them at Wankhede where Eng and SA played and they'll canter to a victory

No disrespect, just out thought by Kane the Brain :)
-

Oh, and not enough sledging because that always separates the winners from the losers

-

At least Ronchi is doing his core job...

You want to talk about batsmen currently underperforming....?
-

India v Pakistan reduced to 18 overs.

I've got a feeling they could have fitted the whole bloody 20 if not for that ridiculous ceremony.
-

And the ancient ground drying techniques. Basically these pricks couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery

Someone should complain to the ICC...

C'mon the green team
-

28/ 0 off the power play

That would be a classic spot fix - under 35 with only 1 wicket down

Told you I'd had my faith destroyed :(
-

This pitch is more ridiculous than the Nagpur one. In hindsight you'd play 4 spinners and 1 seamer

You say that but Pakistan have dropped a spinner to bring in a 4th seamer.

Madness...
-

Yeah, trying to deny their is a method to that madness..

Sorry, I'll stop casting aspersions but there will be potentially billions riding on this match, well hundreds of millions anyway
