Bryn Hall didn't play the year prior (2015) as he was out pretty much all season injured. I don't think he played one minute for the Blues in 2015.
Well, let's hope he turns out to be fucking good at the Crusaders. A revelation who is two steps up on Drummie would be most welcome!
-
Fuck Bryn Hall and Leon Fukofuka as the 2 halfbacks to choose from would hardly inspire me with confidence (both Blues outcasts as well). Maybe Jono Hickey could join as cover for Drummond as well.

They have tried to sign him before.
-
@Tim Hahaha forgot about that. Northern Districts blocked it didn't they? Fuck talk about scraping the barrel....
-
Blues re-signed for 2017 campaign: Prattley, Francis, Scrafton, Cowley-Tuioti, Mafileo, Kara Pryor
-
@KiwiMurph Source?
-
-
Francis has developed quite well IMO. It will be good to have him and West backing Jordie Barrett up in that 10 spot next season.
-
And he is not the standard bash and crash merchant so widely praised in a lot of areas.
-
I'm surprised he's re-signed. I just assumed he'd go back to England, probably make more money, and try and compete for an England shirt. Wouldn't they snap him up over there?
-
I suspect in a similar situation in Blues enviroments of the past he would have bailed - bit of an example of how the culture looks to have changed at the Blues.
-
Where's he gonna play in the Blues backline? SBW and Moala will be fighting it out at 12. So does Tana ruin all the time invested into Ihaia West and pick Piers at 10?
-
@Wurzel Unlikely, he'll probably be bench cover, but will start the season at 12 with SBWs injury.
-
Confirmed Jordie Barrett to the Canes for 2 years.

Wow. Good signing for wellington and he is a better kicker than his brother no?
-
I imagine he will be slotting in at fullback next season.

What is NMS's preferred position? Fullback or wing? Jane has still one year on his contract, hasn't he?
With both Woodward and Marshall going, will the other newbie be Peter Umaga-Jensen?I guess the likes of Mason Emerson and Jonah Lowe will miss out again at the Canes?
-
Interesting interview with Jordie:

Yay
finally a signing that I'm actually excited about. Goodhue has developed both physically and as a smart footballer this year. Looks to be a natural 13.

Charlie Ngatai not progressing well enough: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/rugby/news/article.cfm?c_id=80&objectid=11713944
-
North Harbour rugby coach Steve Jackson has been appointed as assistant coach (forwards) for the Blues
-
Well that was entirely predictable. Interesting to see who the skills coach is going to be.
-
So, who has the hot rumours about next season's squads?
-
Interesting, according to NZ Herald
Chiefs and All Blacks centre Seta Tamanivalu is set to sign with the Crusaders for the 2017 Super Rugby season, sources have confirmed.

Excellent, good stuff Razor
-
@KiwiMurph I wouldn't be starting him next year for the Chiefs ahead of ALB and Ngatai. The only issue will be if Ngatai has concussion problems again.
-
@Bovidae said in Super Rugby News: Injuries: @KiwiMurph
and that is a pretty major issue by the sounds of it

I'd have liked to have kept all three.
-
@gt12 Me too but if the Chiefs are going to lose one of the three midfielders then Tamanivalu is the player I'd choose. I assume Rennie and Keane will have suitable replacements with Horrell out of the equation too. Vaka was in the squad this year. Who else might be in the mix? Beaver as a 2nd 5 again?
-
What about someone like Cardiff Vaega? From his performances in NPC over the last few years he more than looks up to it.
-
That would be a very good signing for the Saders if it happens IMO. Provides something a bit different to what they have.
-
Is Sam Vaka with the Chiefs ? He is now playing centre so I guess he can provide a good cover there in case of injury.
-
Paulasi Manu returns to the Blues for 2017.

Great news
So Manu and Faumuina to start with Hodgman and Ofa on the bench
-
Chiefs seem to be losing a few 'All Blacks'. Players jumping ship with Rennie on his way out?
I wonder if Hames has signed for the Chiefs if they can afford to lose Manu?
-
Confirmed: Tamanivalu has signed with the Crusaders. It seems to be a deal for only one year.

That's a big signing!
Chiefs still have Ngatai, ALB and Vaka but still quite a loss to lose Seta.

It makes you wonder, doesn't it?
I'm also a bit confused about the contractual side of it. In a media release from the Chiefs from February 2015 it says that
prop Pauliasi Manu and winger James Lowe re-committing to the franchise for another two years
Initially I thought the "two years" referred to 2016 and 2017. But if that's correct, Manu would still have another year on his contract with the Chiefs. He wouldn't be the first to move from one franchise to another mid-contract, but I'm not sure whether that's happening in his case.
If, as this move to the Blues suggests, the two years in the media release include 2015, both Manu's and Lowe's contract end in 2016. That raises the question, has James Lowe re-signed with the Chiefs yet?
