@mikey07 Not sure but I hope so. There are a potentially few wingers to get past though - Lam, Rayasi, Clarke? Kata? Heem? If Kata and Heem are involved they could be used in the midfield though.
-
@bobily2 You were right. it has since been corrected on the site - to Woonton.

@cgrant ex Whangarei Boys high , did not play senior rugby this year , played for the Blues 20s , played for GT under 21s ..is around the 6’4 6’5 mark ..Northland were a bit slow on the uptake and he slipped through their fingers.
However the boy in the picture looks more like Jamie Lane despite the team lists saying Behree was in 19, stand to be corrected -
@daffy-jaffy I hope for Auckland’s sake they have many other teams are going to be looking at him and his pace we could do with him down here in Wellington with our coaches preferences on picking “power” wings.
-
@steven-harris I thought that was Lane too. Maybe it is Beehre in 20 next to him? Interesting that Lane is back. He gave the game away for a season or so. If it is him it looks like he may have bulked up a bit.

Jersey 20 definitely isn't Sam Wye - he's a halfback!

@daffy- I think it is Jamie Lane , I spoke to him about 2 months back , Northland were speaking to both Lane & Hallam Eames , but ended up going with Hallam Eames after Auckland decided to go with Lane and Hallam Eames knocked on Northlands door ..true story ..Josh Beehre could be a very good pick up for Auckland , first saw him playing for Whangarei Boys back in 2018, was scouted by Hastings Boys but then COVID 19 turned up ..it’s actually good to see Northland & Auckland working together ,(/assets/uploads/files/1627026582437-7dbe87b3-1fab-40a6-8210-736ad513b6aa.jpeg)

I was impressed by Beehre in the Blues Colts games. Lets hope he is on a pathway towards eventual Blues selection.
-
@daffy-jaffy he’s got a bit of mongrel as well, to be honest if Northland are to lose young players I would rather they were lost to Auckland with the view making the Blues moving forward ..I will be up in Whangarei next Saturday for the preseason game between Auckland v Northland , hoping to do a commentary for the live stream , if not I will put together a post report for the fern .

Outstanding, Love your work.
-
@daffy-jaffy that’s definitely Beehre in the 20 jersey , still a sizeable boy for a 19 going on 20 year old , team list from the union has Sam Wye in 20 who is normally a halfback , maybe Auckland’s cunning plan to throw scouts off 😂..
-
Young Blindside Kitiona Vai playing AB sevens -
-
@steven-harris I guess Scrafton an Dalzell will be the initial starting locks with Kalapu, Beehre and Lane as bench/rotation options.
-
@daffy-jaffy I suspect both Auckland & Northland will put close to their best 23 on the paddock next Saturday..and i agree with your starting locks , plenty of height in the Auckland stocks .

-
@duluth The try scorers we see here are Fullback Sofai Maka 1st and 3rd, and Number 8 Terrell Peita with the 2nd. Plus Jock McKenzie with a couple of nice 'assist' kick plays.
-
-
@tim out of curiousity could he play NPC?
-
@bayimports He's supposed to play NPC this year, so I guess he will be available early.
-
@bayimports Yes. That's been the plan.
-
nice... exciting times then

Nice of them to let him go early, looking forward to seeing how he goes.
-
@tim initial plan was him to play the last 4 games. How serious was his injury last week?

Before he was released there were NRL articles saying he might have played this weekend.
Hard to predict when a player is ready to come back from a concussion though
-
Heard Alama on the radio and he said they'll likely play him in the outside backs with potential to move into the midfield.
He also said they've had no contact with Roger, so who knows when he'll join us.
-
When talking about the make up of the team, Alama said we've got Super players from the Blues, Hurricanes and Chiefs.
I wonder which Chiefs players we'll be getting, because I don't think there were any Auckland players in the Chiefs team this year.
-
@kiwimurph Totally forgot we had him.
-
@tim said in Auckland Rugby 2021:
@dice Did he say when the team will be announced?
He didn't mention when the team will be announced, but he did say they'll add a few additions to the team after the last pre-season game.
-
Auckland posted a few training photos

Here's the Ieremia interview that was mentioned earlier:

No idea. Maybe Kata? Assuming the rumour is correct.. I don’t think we’d recruit him as a winger?
I wouldn't think Auckland rugby would be dumb enough to recruit him as a centre. But then again it appears they're dumb enough to recruit him full stop so I should just return to my cave.
-
@duluth its times like this you might find it useful
the guy was a pretty damaging runner, but tackling and distributing were not strong points

@duluth said in Auckland Rugby 2021:
Why? I don't follow league
He was my most disliked Warriors player before they decided to hire straight up thugs like Lodge.
He has an average passing game and his defence was poor and that's in league where he's standing on one side of the field. He'll be all at sea defending at centre.
Please select him there for the Magpies game.
