    ODI time.

Categories are: opening batsmen, batsmen, keeper, allrounders & bowlers.

    Rules:

They must have played ODI cricket.

For the purposes of this exercise, we will consider an all rounder anyone who is regularly used to bowl during a game and can a also do a decent job with the bat. In this instance, Kane is not an allrounder, he is a batsmen who very occasionally rolls the arm over.

Like the test and T20 teams, players can be nominated in more than one category. If a such player receives enough votes to fill more than one spot in the final team, they will take the spot they have received the highest number of votes in. Their other spot will go the person with the next highest number of votes in that category.

Once nominations are in I'll figure out the best way to run the polls.

Like the other two best XI's, I'll clear up/make up any other rules along the way as I see fit 😉

After voting the team I ended up with is:

    McCullum (wk)
    Guptill
    Williamson
    Crowe
    Taylor
    C Cairns
    Oram
    Vettori
    Hadlee
    Bond
    Boult

Was tougher than I though trying to select this team and there are some very good ODI players that didn't get nominated, a couple being:

Gavin Larsen, 3rd best economy rate.
Kyle Mills, was once ranked as the best ODI bowler in the game.

    Anyway I went with

    Turner
    Guptill
    Williamson
    Taylor
    Astle
    McCullum
    Cairns
    Vettori
    Hadlee
    Bond
    Pringle

The top 4 batsmen pick themselves with their outstanding records.
Went with Astle over Crowe mainly for his 16 tonnes (which was at the time a record) and we can't have an all time ODI XI without a dibbly dobbly.

    KW
    Rossco
    Hogan
    BMac
    Cairns

Who's place does Astle take in your team then?

Probably Turner. Much longer career and obviously an option as a bowler ( hence me missing him in the first place )

Well, even with the polls not due to close for another few days yet our ODI team is looking pretty clear-cut.

    Guptill
    Astle
    Williamson
    Crowe
    Taylor
    McCullum (wk)
    C Cairns
    Vettori
    Hadlee
    Bond
    Boult

Astle with 6 votes is the one who's place is in most jeopardy, but not really because his nearest rival Chirs Harris is quite far behind on 3 votes, with Oram, Styris and Ferguson all with 2 a piece.

I'll be very surprised if there are any changes once the polls close.

I made my picks this morning and my only decision was Astle or Turner as the other opening batsmen.

@MN5 if you’re in the minority, doesn’t mean that you’re the funny one, not the fern? 🤔

    My humour is subjective
