What??? Mojave King made the NBA????
Entry requirements must be slipping

@mariner4life To the Lakers. You may be able to say you watched a future NBA player.
Rupert drafted by Portland.

Time for a rant.
The NBA Draft coverage absolutely sucks.
For some reason NBA insists on having the initial teams announced as owning picks including the team graphics and team hats when trades have already occured and those teams don't have that pick anymore.
For example Washington and the Pacers swapped picks at 7 and 8 (before the picks were announced) so in back to back picks you guys going up and putting on the hat of a team they aren't going to.
Then Adam Silver will come out 30 minutes later before announcing a pick and announce the trade that happened way earlier.
Then, ESPN don't even update the viewer of trades. I was following Boston who made a ton of trade downs and traded down from 34 and yet when it got to 34 they said the player was going to Boston when they already traded down but if you weren't following draft coverage elsewhere you wouldn't know.
If Super Rugby ran a draft this bad it would rightly be ripped to shreds for being amateur hour.
How can a billion dollar industry run this so poorly - just follow the NFL draft blueprint. Yikes.

I watched a few of his G League games and he’s bulked up a bit and was playing with a maturity that a number of other G-Leaguers didn’t have. He played okay on offence but he’s become a decent defender.
In saying all that, as a. 40+ pick, he’ll be back in the G League 😀
-
@KiwiMurph the only thing I’ll say on those trades tonight is that they did involve other pieces so the time lapse from when Woj announces it was because they needed to settle the other parts.
I do miss a good hat exchange like Webber and Penny

43rd, which is a drop compared to projections he would go in the 1st round. I saw him play and thought he had good length, and seemed to have reasonable handles and a decent float game. Interesting to see if he can make it into the rotation

Aussie NBA news - Dante Exum back in the NBA to join Josh Green at the Mavs. Jock Landale off to the Rockets. Jack White off to join Giddey at OKC.
-
@canefan the money for Van Fleet is ridiculous.
And if LaMelo makes an all NBA team next year he’s up for $50+ mill per year for the next 5….

Still some “loose ends” after the end of the trade period. Top 2 are 1/Will the Blazers trade Dame to Heat or elsewhere? 2/Which James Harden will show up to 76’ers training camp?

It’s hard finding a 3rd team that will want to be a part of that deal and ultimately be responsible for making the Heat a contender (again). There’s no way a team in the East would be joining that trade.
The irony is that it’s usually the Blazers that are a third or fourth team being joined in a big trade like this with odd pieces (with workable contracts) going out the door.

This feels like an entirely reasonable take, which is why the Nets will probably do it.
Saw news this morning that Bronny had a heart attack at USC training 😳
-
@gt12 if Washington hadn’t already been so active during this period I would’ve said them for sure!
Yeah scary stuff for young Bronny. One of my favourite players growing up was Reggie Lewis from the Celtics, even wore 35 during my High School days and when I just heard that Bronny had collapsed, I did think the worst.

Jaylen Brown signs the supermax extension with Boston - over $300m USD over 5 years.
I'm skeptical whether the Celtics can win a title with Tatum & Brown but they probably didn't have any other realistic options.
Feels like they way overpaid for a very good player who had no left hand in the ECF last season

WTF $304M!! Over 5-years. He’ll be making over $69M in year 5. This is for a player is the second option on the Celtics.
I know the Celtics were in a similar position to the Mavericks with Kyrie but far out that is a lot of money for someone who prob 4th of 5th best two guard in the league.

That's superstar money. I don't believe JB is a superstar. At least not yet. Maybe never

The economics of the NBA at the top end isn’t so much about how much the player is worth but paying overs so no one else can get him.
If they didn’t sign him to a super max given his all-NBA selection then other teams could and guess what they are now a contender. Boston management would get the boot from the owners.
