giving some thought to this...just on wiki and none of our records (most tries etc) has been set since 2001...so other than Bender there might not be to many recent players
-
-
Kees Meeuws
-
Dave Latta - beats Coltman and Oliver because he could throw a lineout
-
Carl Hayman
-
Jackson Hempo
-
James Ryan
-
Randell
-
Kronfield
-
Jamie Joseph
-
Byron Kelleher
-
Tony Brown/ Ioane
-
Paul Cooke
-
John Leslie
-
Tamati Ellison
-
Goldie
-
Bender
in the mix: Hoeft, nick evans, Faddes, dickson...lots of other names...im not going to argue too much about any selections, there are loads of bloke of similar skill to pick from with a few world class
-
-
Taine Randell > Evans
-
@Duluth id be happy with that, big randell fan, Dunedin RFC old boy, remember him coming back to the club rooms for a beer when playing at higher levels
partially slipped my mind, partially my personal lean towards underated dudes
@Gunner was a hard choice for me, i just love Hemopo. once again, we've been blessed with a few really good locks, annoyed i straight up forgot Maling, i was working off a list on wiki...historically maling was one of the first on the list for me
-
I'd have Marc Ellis ahead of Ellison too
-
@Nepia i just didn't know where to play timu without being out of position, goldie and bender are/were world class and Cooke is our record try scorer both total and in a season, well underated
hunt probably just on my mind...might edit to avoid too much shit

Timu over Cooke I'd say (there's a reason Timu was an AB) but they're both from Hawkes Bay anyway so I'm happy with either.

@Nepia timu and cooper over bender and goldie? interesting
As good as they are they don't quite meet my selection criteria.

You might have missed the joke. Same but different joke that @ACT-Crusader rolls out all the time

@Nepia There must be a few other Otago players who drove through Hawkes.
TBH, I've been at parties where lots of them have turned up, but I am sticking to players from the Bay, this isn't Ta$man we're talking about.

i should declare my bias, Paul Cooke and John leslie coached one of my high school teams, thay flatted together and had the whole team over for fish and chips etc, that was pretty cool for a 13 year old
