After months of demand exceeding supply by tens of thousands, everyone who was in the queue got their MIQ vouchers after self-isolation was announced:

Yay! I get to see my daughter in a few weeks! She left for NZ as an innocent 16-year-old to go to high school. She comes back for a few month as an 18-year-old just about to enter uni going on about LGBQ etc lack of rights in Japan
After struggling with MIQ and all the BS with border restrictions, it is a relief. She comes back to Japan where COVID rates are lower in real numbers than NZ but with a population of 125 million (maybe dodgy stat. cos they only test symptomatic cases.....). Almost 0 cases in Tochigi Prefecture (where we live) for quite a while. It has been frustrating to say the least. -

Two important tweaks of Red noted today in the press conference - unvaccinated limit at events and gatherings will be 25, up from 10, and public indoor facility limits e.g. gyms will 1 per square metre rather than a specific limit.
it's so easy to keep track of, eh.
Honestly, I'm pretty confused still. Seems very high level, with weird details in some areas but not others. Still, not planning to go to the pub until after my christmas holiday, so will figure it out when needed.

Practically, if someone is double vaccinated and carries the vaccination pass, just turn up and scan if requested - any other issues are for the businesses to know for their own situation. Capacity limits might seem confusing if it's variable rather than set, but businesses should know their capacity because most commercial leases will include it as part of the basis of calculating the rent, and once they know, the actual number won't change for them thereafter. Harder to police though.

Vaccination mandates to be extended to Police and NZDF. These will probably be the last mandates since the new simplified risk assessment tool will be released in December and employers can use that if they aren't already running a process currently.
-
@nzzp Yes, private gatherings will have number limits for unvaccinated and at Red but aren't banned outright at any colour even for unvaccinated attendees. That doesn't preclude additional localised restrictions if hospitalisations/ICU numbers are particularly bad.

@godder thanks dude.
Just to be clear - at all Traffic Light levels we can host people and visit people insdie their homes? It seems that's implied but not stated anywhere
According to the Deputy PM, rules at Red for private homes are the same as for businesses. 26 or more people and you can’t have any unvaxxed.

Lol I don't see how they expect to be able to police private residences unless they are sending police round to check peoples vaccination status. Which would be insanely dystopian.

I don't expect it unless there are complaints from the neighbours, but other countries managed it.

@canefan an abundance of caution I guess. Hard to put the genie back in the bottle if it goes pear-shaped, and not wanting to yo-yo either.
Do you know if these tests will be sufficient to be let out the Auckland prison over Xmas?
From this article, under consideration apparently.
Currently, a PCR test taken within 72 hours of travel is required for travel out of Auckland. However, other testing methods are being considered, the spokesperson said.
Also, tests will be free for the purpose of travelling in and out of Auckland. Tests for travel on Air NZ will not be free except for in and out of Auckland.

I wonder how true this claim is? It would be very bad for my work travel ability if this was true.
