Cricket: NZ vs Aus

CDG is the man for the occasion.
Be good to see him score a swashbuckling century and have Aussie batting before lunch tomorrow under pressure.

@Snowy @kev it has a very eeiry feeling about it doesn’t it.
Been living this for a while now......
It is what it is......A bit like the NZ Cricket Team🤓

I'm watching Smithy on a pisstake show called The Professors Night Watchman. And he's killing it. Just a genuine, funny bloke.
Saw that too. Best thing that’s happened on this tour...
-
When do some questions start getting asked about Peter Fulton as a batting coach?
-
Who'd have thought it'd be mainly our senior batsmen who'd be so collectively poor this entire series...
-
CdG: another Black Caps batting clown. FFS!!!
-
FFS Colin!!!
-
Geeze. He was looking comfortable too.
-
There probably was 2 there if Colin wasn't Michael Collins between the wickets...
-
Yeah - though with a direct hit and he would have been metres out.
Just gifting them his wicket, though, when we're fighting for credibility!

These fuckers have been carrying on like that all series
-
@canefan I'm giving the batsmen a bit of benefit of the doubt, that this bowling has probably been relentlessly the best they've ever seen. But, there have been some soft dismissals and that was probably the softest.
Pattinson oversteps and Phillips has at least his third life.
-
200 up (200/6).
-
Second session has just finished, off to tea at 210/6.
-
@Godder got them right where we want them!
-
@taniwharugby Lulled them right into a false sense of security!
-
Change of strategy.
Eek out another 100 runs in this session. Then roll Aussie for 150 before tea tomorrow. Knock off the 300 required with big centuries to the openers.
The path to victory is clear enough.
-
50 and out on debut for Phillips.

Good result on paper but sounds like he spent a series worth of luck in one innings
-
Looks like I'll be pretty much bang on

Basically, one of the not outs was a No Ball when he got caught.

Yeah that fraction of a second advantage the bowler got hurried him into the shot and caused the ball to go to hand rather than over the rope.
Not fair to consider that a chance obviously.
-
Love Kerry O'Keeffe commentary. He was great on the radio and just as good on TV
-
Well, the platform was there to fight back on a deadish-looking pitch, but we've capitulated really. Really needed people like Tom Latham, Rossco and BJ to stand up and bat a long time, but they've got in and then got out.
It's a pretty annoying and sub-par effort - in many ways the worst so far, even though it's our highest score - and made with a B team.
-
That was probably as good as that batting line up is, against that bowling attack.
-
Yet half the dismissals were self inflicted comedy.
Worst day of the tour yet.

Quite possibly.
But, Rossco and BJ especially are much better than what they contributed and it was the easiest batting conditions of the series. Another hundred runs and there would be a decent prospect of a draw - and 50 more each from those two wouldn't be too much to ask - along with less soft dismissals from CdG, Wagner and even Henry.
-
Not even the smoke can save us. Its all over here!
-
Our batting lineup again have been made to look like flat track bullies without the combined mental approach required to achieve against a top line attack. Is that down to the individuals, preparation or coaching...so disappointing.

It's funny but this sums up the Aussies far more than us. Look at what some of those guys average away from home

Sure but that's cricket. I used to think Taylor was unfairly maligned before Williamson came along. He used to be our best batsman but the rest of our batsmen were so crap we needed more from him. The problem was that Taylor was never good enough to carry the team himself. He was our best batsman but was not as good as we needed him to be, to be competitive.
Taylor could have got more runs but I don't think his innings was too unusual there. BJ's median score when he bats is around 28. So he can rescue you but you cant rely on it.

Better to be lucky than good. Got the impression he had a fair amount of luck in that T20 ton he got a couple of months ago.

It's officially a complete disaster now.

@mariner4life I was just gonna say, FFS someone get that munter out so we aren't further traumatised by a display of tiny dick energy.

Back at work, so not watching anymore. How's Astle looking? The commentary is hyping him up, and he should have had Labuschange cheaply, but my view on Astle has always been that he bowls too many pies. He takes genuinely great leg spinners wickets, but he'll give away toomany easy runs in between. If he had better control/consistency he'd be a genuine test quality attacking spinner, and a contender for our best ever spinner.
