I'm all Lakers this year. My man Alex Caruso is going to lead them home.
If not them, I'd be happy to see Giannis get a ring. Not the Clippers, not Houston , and certainly not Philly
Can't see anyone challenging the Lakers , Clips or Bucks really.

If the Clippers get up, does that mean Kawhi is really the best player in the league?

Even though I have been a Lakers fan since Showtime I would be happy if the Clippers won it. I'm all for a team to win the title for the first time.

He will be the only man to win the title with 3 different teams I believe (LBJ is on two teams as well). If he isn't the first the club must be pretty damn small. I can't think of any other centre piece player in their prime that has done it

he'll get finals MVP if they win too. 3 rings at 3 teams with 3 MVPs? that's unreal.
And lets not forget, one of those teams is in fucking Canada!

@canefan You mean the only STAR player to win on 3 different teams.
Horry
SalleyYeah that's what I meant. I did think of big shot Rob....
-
To be fair Horry contributed more to his championship teams than Spider Salley.

Nah, it doesn't in and of itself, but he is certainly close, especially if 100%. 1a and 1b maybe. That said, the guy is 28 with just 20k minutes on the clock which is baby fresh legs when compared with LeBrons 35 years and 58k, so that's a massive advantage already!
But mostly I say no because the Clippers are clearly the deepest team in the league. If you say Kawhi and LeBron cancel each other out, then AD is marginally ahead of PG (some would argue AD's playoff record says otherwise), then compare the rest:
Harrell, Lou Williams, Beverley, are all first rate. Shamet, Morris still add value as do guys like Zubac (why did the Lakers give him up?) and Harkless.
Lakers have a chasm of a drop off from their top 2. Kuzma shows flashes, but KCP and Bradley are average now and Danny Green is pretty old. Nobody is creating offense in that group. They have no PG (Sorry Bald Eagle and 34yr old Rondo), and their backup bigs of McGee and Dwight are prone to break/implode at any point.
You'd never dismiss a team with LeBron in it, especially one with AD there too. But over 7 games, and with that Clippers D, it's hard to go past them.

BUT, like every stat, we need to add context. He shouldn't have been MVP in San Antonio, Tony Parker was way more valuable. It's not as bad as Iggy's one, but it's up there.
Then he goes to Canada and everything falls into place. Siakim makes a ludicrous leap, FvF starts playing like a man possessed, and the Warriors lose both KD and Klay for the finals!
There is always luck somewhere in a title run, I don't begrudge him any of his success (even the game winning 7 bounce shot against Philly). But you cant just say 3x finals MVP's elevates him over others on their own.

Ha, yeah I'm a bit excited about the season resuming. Even the reg season play-in will have plenty of juice. Eveyone should be rested, and we get to see Zion play again finally!
-
look, fuck Kawhi. He's weird and he left my team in the lurch and we have never recovered
I'm just chucking out arguments that upset LBJ stans (like yourself )
-
It is going to be an interesting post-season with no home court advantage, unless you believe the Magic will make a deep run. The best teams should rise to the top but no team has any momentum and even the Lakers, Clips and Bucks need to start again.
-
@mariner4life Bah! I think I've said this before, but I don't love the guy, I just don't get the level of hate thrown at him (that's not pointed at you, I know you're just stirring), especially from our generation of fans. Guess its annoying having the young kids call him GOAT, but it doesn't make me dislike the guy, its hardly his fault. At the end of the day he is a bit of a douche and a try-hard, way too brand focused - but if that's the worst thing we can say about him, then he's going alright. He does so much awesome stuff for kids, seems like a happily married dude who gets off on seeing his kids be happy and succeed.

Reasonable explanation of how the 22 teams into 16 play off spots thing will work.

Watching NBA classics on ESPN right now. 99-2000 season and it’s Raptors v Suns after the 2000 All-Star game and Vince goes for 50.
That Suns team though were very good. Plenty of talent - Penny, JKidd, Cliff Robinson, Tom Gugliota, Longley, Marion, Rodney Rogers. Unfortunately for them they came up against a rampant Lakers in the 2nd round.

@voodoo Vin Baker reaction and the KG was centimetres away from getting knocked out by Carter.

Super excited for the restart, getting close now with all the teams in Orlando. Lakers to win it all, for Kobe!

Hope Giannis makes the leap and gives either a cracking series.

Oh and if Philly lose every game, it'll be more than they deserve.

I genuinely think it's impossible to tip. No crowds or home court throws it wide open. Who knows how players will react as the season goes on and they are locked up for a longer period.
This might be the break the Bucks needed. I tipped the Lakers earlier in the year, thinking the Kobe emotion might be enough to lift them to the title. But in a sterile arena that emotional push ebbs away, you'd think.
But it wouldn't shock me if a team like Houston or Miami came from the clouds. Or a settled, experienced team like Toronto.

I can't see anyone outside Clips, Lakers or Bucks getting up, absent some serious injuries. Houston, OKC could steal a few games, but over 7 games will ultimately get found out.

I have a confession. I am not addicted to collecting basketball cards. Group breaks, buying individual cards, getting them graded, boxing boxes.
oh dear....But so fun.

Also wearing scuffs and what looks like a dust mask

This was the accompanying article.
The NBA tweeted a photo of the Thunder’s arrival in Orlando. Chris Paul was pictured in a sweatsuit with at least three bags. Adams, from what we see in the photo, didn’t have a suitcase with him, but he sure had what appeared to be three bags of groceries. Anyone who’s followed him wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. The idea of Adams bringing his own food to Orlando is humorous and believable, considering the fact that some photos of some less-than-appetizing looking food being provided to players within the bubble were sent around on social media on Monday. Perhaps Adams had someone help with his luggage. Or maybe he made two trips. It’s also possible that he stashed some clothes in his guitar case or in the backpack he’s wearing… But truth be told, if we were to find out that he traveled to Orlando with three pairs of shorts, six t-shirts and two pairs of flip flops, nobody that follows the Thunder would be surprised.
