Auckland vs. North Harbour - The Battle of the Bridge
-
Both will be in the 51 but I suspect only one of them will be in the official 32 who go to Europe.
Hunt has more experience, but Papali'i looks the better long term prospect.
-
@duluth Lentjes was very good for Otago when he came on,superb over the ball,my choice would Papalii,I just think he is way more physical than Hunt or Lentjes.
-
All Harbour so far.
They look very up for this.
-
Auckland get some ball down the right end of the field and score.

Great to lead after having the ball for about three minutes out of twenty
-
Akira straight through Hunt and Auckland score again. Papali'i has started strongly.
-
Future AB 8 to future AB 7, try.
Hunt not doing himself any favors.
-
Auckland midfield really good today.
-
Stevenson has been good. Unfortunately Scotty Stevenson said at the start of the game that "his Super Rugby future is secure down the motorway".
-
Prattley is an idiot. But we knew that.
-
Cripes that was not good from Stevenson!
-
@kiwimurph Yep, followed my praise with a shocking play.
-
Can't say I'm overly impressed with Dillon Hunt. Looks journeyman level at best.
-
Abel gives away the penalty then misses the tackle. Not a great few minutes.
Yeah Hunt not having much impact - looks small out there.
-
All that last period of play that let Harbour back in was from a chip and chase play from Ruru..50/50 play in my book..and then finished up with a 3 x penalties..
-
This should be the equivalent of a trial between Hunt and Papali’i
I know who I’d pick.
-
I've been impressed by Mafileo for Harbour. Harbour scrum going well and some nice charges.
-
@gt12 hunt has done it at super level and also excellent in mitre 10 cup. 1 mediocre game does not mean a lot in scale of things. But I think both hunt and popoali’i should be picked in all black squad
-
We're far better than these guys but we keep letting them in it with poor discipline which has been a problem all year.
-
To me that’s advantage, player had an opportunity to pass..
-
Forwards try for Auckland. I barred up at kicking for territory
-
Really good opening 8m for Abel and Ruru
-
People aren't actually serious about Bryn Hall being an AB contender right?
-
@sparky Gareth Evans should be picked ahead of these two. I don't know what everyone sees in Dillon Hunt, good player but doesn't exactly set the house on fire. I really like Dalton, but probably a bit young at this stage.
-
That was a terrific team try by Auckland.
-
Faiane should have pinned his ears back, even he got tackled,Trainor was right on shoulder
-
@canes4life why should Evans be picked ahead of a specialist 7?
-
@canes4life I like Evans too but I'd pick Papali'i no bias intended. He's a star and is only gonna get better. Having said that, I wouldn't be upset if Evans got a cap somewhere. He's a solid operator.
-
at a collapsed maul, how long does the ref have to give for the team to clear it?
SOme refs give them a few seconds, some, as soon as it collapses, they blow it up regardless if the 9 is digging for it.
-
38-15 kick to come. Sensational day out
-
That bloke playing 8 for Auckland is pretty good too...
-
They probably need two, and I’d be tempted to take Evans as a potential bench option. Can do the Ardie role covering 7/8 if required (although Papalii gets the bench spot in my team).
-
@kiwimurph No workrate though......
-
@kiwimurph yep, a specialist 7 is the one they are looking to replace, why replace him with a utility?
-
@kiwimurph Because he is a better 7 than Hunt when he plays in that position.
-
What a tackle Papali'i.
-
@canes4life Forget Hunt, we want Papali'i.
-
Papalii is Hansen’s man..I would not be looking at anyone else if you are looking for a specialist 7

@steven-harris I agree with Papali'i over Hunt. Just whether Hansen thinks he is too young or not.
