Yeah it’s still slow. Better than this morning but not back to normal
There’s a couple of things I can try tomorrow

if it doesn't speed up, I'll actually have to do some work. Good god man, think of the consequences!

Bot traffic might not be the cause (it's been very high since Jan)
CPU usage is very high. However there's been no code changes for ages.
I've disabled a few plugins which may help. That means that some of the embeds will stop working
I notice on the github page that one of the recent issues fixed was a mem leak. So it's worth patching everything to the latest level
I do prefer doing that on Mon or Tues when there is no sport on.

Thanks @Duluth we all appreciate it

A quick update. There is a CPU issue and it's likely caused by the bot traffic. The regular traffic also has an influence.
So that's why the forum was mostly ok this morning but very slow on Saturday evening
Later today there will be an outage. I'll post a time up later. This may or may not help.. it's more of a prerequisite for a change that we'll apply tomorrow.
The down time today and tomorrow will be ~1 hour each

Modern internet landscape is going to be fun with these fucking AI startups stealing data from where ever they can to train models.
It's extraordinary right - the internet is an enormous data replication machine, and some people start using that data!
Trying to protect data is nigh on impossible. Good luck to the owners.
Also, sorry for the thread derailment - consider splitting off; keen for a wider discussion on some of this

I've hidden some content from non logged in users. I can see from the logs the bots aren't scraping for rugby..

They're after hot polish chicks to apply nude fakes to, the dastardly swine!

Is there any way of blocking the bots? A WAF or something? Or too costly?
(edit - I am sure you have already thought of this)
