Latest early vote total is 1,153,334, which is just under 93% of 2017. Saturday 10 October was the highest single total for an early voting day, being 253,616 votes cast - the previous record was the day before the 2017 election, so we could be in for some big numbers this week.

I am so, so glad the period of electoral ads/coverage is relatively short here. I could not deal with this bullshit for 18 months or whatever.
And those eyesore billboards can go on the fire. Having real estate agents plastic faces splattered around is bad enough, but politicians on even bigger signs? Glad to see them go.

How much $$$ is blown on those things? Especially as 50% of them end up defaced and then replaced.
To be fair they are tempting targets -

I hate the TV ads. There is no politician I want to see this much. I prefer to think of them trapped underground working on policy for 23 hours of the day, thrown scraps if they behave. Perhaps a hamster wheel for exercise/to help generate electricity for Auckland because those useless fucks can't sort out infrastructure to save themselves.

Be great if they could find us more water as well.

Finding is not the issue (he types as the rain comes down). Efficient infrastructure to capture it and make it available for use (grey and fresh water) would be useful

And whoever has advised Collins that continually appearing in a shell suit and baseball cap will make her look more votable gets joke of the year.

To be fair they are tempting targetsFuck all in the volumes political parties buy them in - the big ones are less than $20 and the small ones are less than $5 (source: am on a campaign committee).
Early voting up to and including yesterday - 1,282,478 votes cast, so we have now passed the 2017 early voting tally.
Edit: Latest UMR poll shows Labour 50%, National 29%, ACT 7%, Greens 6%, NZ First 2.7%.

Still don't think that the early numbers will translate to the same extent in the overall votes cast.
If I can go by anecdotal evidence, every day I hear people at work saying that they just went and voted at lunchtime and someone else says 'that's a good idea. Better than wasting time on the weekend'.
I'd say it started with the 'go early, be safe' message and has spread to people realising that they can vote out of electorate and well before 'the day'.
The number of out of electorate votes will be interesting. Especially from city polling stations near workplaces. -

Especially from city polling stations near workplaces. Those are special votes, but the usual method to avoid too many of those is to designate polling stations for multiple electorates. I voted at Eastgate in Christchurch which is designated for all the Christchurch electorates and Te Tai Tonga.

Yeah, Brownlee could do with a couple of years on a treadmill. He could generate Gigawatts and still be north of 150kg. Fat prick.

He needs more than that. Probably some heavy lipo, a gastric bypass then get onto the roadwork. Going hard out straight away would probably kill him
