The Hurricanes could do worse for a backup 10.

New signing Manawatu: Brad Tucker (lock)
Tucker played provincial rugby for Waikato in 2016 and Taranaki in 2017. He is the brother of former Waikato and Chiefs lock James Tucker. The brothers grew up in Christchurch going through St Bede’s College and the Canterbury age-grade rugby system. This year he returned home to Canterbury where he has been playing with Christchurch in the club competition. Then he got a call from the Turbos coaching staff who were looking for an experienced lock.

James Wilson (35), a former Brumbies (2003-2004, 8 caps)^, Highlanders (2007-2008, 18 caps)^ and Chiefs (2009, 1 cap)^ back is returning from Europe and will play for Southland again this season. He played for the Stags from 2003-2011 (65 caps).
I always like it when former players, when returning from overseas' stints, play for their province again before retiring.

His French stint is over, apparently.
One of the better U20's players, Tom Florence.
Warwick Lahmert, didn't he play for Wanganui last year?
Kini "should be playing for Hawke's Bay" Naholo. His brother Meli is not in the squad.
Liam Blyde, was very good for the Taranaki 7s team at the nationals.
