The Brumbies have always been the standard for Australia. They've been their top-ranked side in cross- Ta$man competitions since 2021. So they're not really the litmus test for Australian strength...
Good point but it looks as though they might be 3rd best Aussie team this year

Is Jacomb looking AB level ? (asking keenly hoping for a Beauden Barret replacement)
Well I think he is. But I also been on his wagon all last year , saying he next long term AB 10 , so I probably biased. I also think Godfrey from Canes is looking not bad.
Though I am a Naki man and a long time Canes supporter, so possibly have to take that into consideration . -

Breakdowns are a mess...off feet, playing ball on deck
That's what you get with Doleman. Anything goes, until it doesn't.

thought there might've been a bigger crowd... what's the attendance?
~11500.
There were a lot of empty seats around me which are usually full with non-season members.
Charging 2-3 times the normal price for a ticket because of the musicians was always going to be a big mistake. I wouldn't have went along if I had to buy a ticket on the day. And it was fuckin' hot for those of us not sitting in the covered stands.

As to the game, I didn't think that the Chiefs played that well. It's as if the conditions meant the forwards got carried away playing without doing the hard work up front. Better after a HT word.
This was never going to be an easy game, but the Chiefs are making a habit of having a strong 2nd half. The game was still in the balance when DMac went off and the Chiefs only had 14 players on the field.

@Bovidae I think the Brumbies did well to disrupt a lot of ball but they fell away once Reimer left the field
They were missing missing both Hooper and Valentini who gives them so much gainline
Jury is still out on Brown , gets around the paddock but I don’t see him having a higher ceiling than what he’s showing at the minute -

Mataele is a terrible signing for us.
The slowest Fijian winger I've seen live. He's only a WTG player and shouldn't be near the 23 once everyone is fit.
Weird to think he's still running round in NZ in 2025. He was destined for big things I feel at around 2018/19 but injuries have certainly caught up with him.
