Gotta say the new livescoring software they replaced the sporty one with, sucks.

Was over at Kaponga on Saturday watching a bit of 3rd grade rugby in the Naki. And what's behind the deadball line, the Ranfurly Shield, was then on the bar after the game if anyone wanted photos etc with it. Was basically sent their for the day, to help promotr junior sign on day from what I could see. Just surprised (and pleased) after the kerfluffle that happened in Hawkes Bay that is was till out there, and seemingly just left out on field with no close minder so anyone can have a look etc.
Also another thing I liked having a beer after the game, and chatting to CU (whatever that job is) of the Naki union, who said he tries to get to every club and have a talk with rugby people and always starts at Div 2/3 clubs. I thought he had brought the shield with him, but he hadn't though bar lady (top club person) asked him to take it back, save her the trip to NP next day. That is proper community rugby stuff ,that should happen more. -

Wellsford/Otamatea 34 Moerewa-United Kawakawa 41
Mid Northern 90 Hora Hora 12
Hikurangi 34 Kamo 38
Sharks 27 Old Boys-Marist 362 surprising results, 1st was the Sharks getting rolled by OBM in Dargaville and HH getting 90 put past them, but I subsequently found out 4 of thier Northland rep players (Fono, Peita, Hawkins & Anderson) were all playing in the Hong Kong 10s this week, and while they'd not have altered the result, they absolutely would have kept that margin closer.
Table after round 2

Round 1 of the Whangarei Premiership got underway last week (I was away, so unable to get out and watch)
No surprises in any of the results in the 1st weekend, with Waipu pulling out of the premiership we now have an uneven number, so Hora Hora had the bye in week 1.
Looks a fairly Northland wide comp. Most of the old sub-unions I remefrom back in the day seem to be represented (except Mangonui and Hokianga ... the latter unsurprising perhaps).
Where are Western Sharks based?

A beautiful sunny day so I decided to watch a local club game (University vs Hautapu). The interest was that Mitch Jacobson was playing so obviously not in MLR or overseas. Manasa Matele was at centre for Hautapu, while both teams had some Waikato NPC reps and Chiefs U20 players in their ranks. Hautapu was too good in the end. A really good crowd for a club game.

Ben Searle played his 150th for Northcote yesterday in their 34-28 win over silverdale. 3/3 for cote so far but Shore are looking very strong again as they gave Takapuna a real touch up yesterday
Going to ask a dumb question. Are there two divisions in Harbour? Just seem to recall there used to be other clubs like East Coast Bays and wasn't there Marist club?

Bays had a bye last week and a few clubs have fallen away over the years and sadly don't field premier sides any more (well at the moment anyway). So that's Marist and Glenfield. I think those two clubs even combine a few teams at the junior level too - Marifield. Oh and Navy havent been around for years.

They're probably still good enough to make the Wales side with how they're going.
