Black Caps v Sri Lanka Test Series

There is no point playing spinners that are not good enough. Yes the conditions suit spin, but on the flipside the Sri Lankans are used to playing in these conditions against spin, so the spinner actually has to be good to have success.
-
@No-Quarter That's what I think too.
WOR's success encourages me to play more pace - especially vs SL (or Bangladesh).
We would still be playing with Ajaz, Phillips and Ravindra.

It's a while since I've thought about the next Test keeper in line. But Blundell's batting and keeping aren't brilliant these days...
After a promising start he hasn't kicked on to become BJW 2.0 as we'd hoped
I reckon that is a bit harsh. An average of 36 (with no particular preference to easy opposition) is pretty close to Watling offered. Watling favoured by his longevity, but I think there was probably a considerable crossover after Blundell debuted when he could have capably played test cricket, we just didn't need him.

Going for 600 now and I’m clearly the only ferner who is remotely interested.
Mendis will be aiming for 200, the other Mendis for 100 and a declaration should see NZ at about 10/1 at stumps assuming Latham survives.
What is there to say, hah.

Mendis looking to equal Don Bradman for the fastest batsman to 1000 test runs. Only 11 runs away……13 innings it took him.
Interestingly a couple of slightly lesser legends than the Don did it quicker, Herbert Sutcliffe and Everton Weekes. Both 12 innings.

Interesting conundrum. If time was not a factor, how long would it take us to bowl them out? Haven't looked like taking a wicket since drinks in the last session!

They’ll get both individual milestones I reckon then still have about 10 overs at us before stumps.
We won’t get another wicket.

Well done Mendis boys.
600 up
Hundred up.
1000 runs in 13 innings up.
Double ton on the way.
Sri Lanka must be thankful some minnows have toured to help pad the stats so much
We are the new Bangladesh

FFS. Latham gone.
Don’t stress, their opener went early too. We’re still on track for 600 odd
