Yes I'm not arguing actual rugby ability.
Victor Matfield in the video said when he played the All Blacks they always had guys thay were bigger and faster athletes in the backs and he said that wasn't the case with last weekends team.
I think he has a point.
But I also think that the inclusion of Clarke and Ioane change the backline dynamic from last week.
I alluded to it in a previous post a few days back.
When you are lining up for the haka and you are looking across at Beaudy, ALB, DMAC, TJP for example you arent fearing for your safety.
Even when we used to lose a game the opposition had a tough day at the office.
Not so much now. We are a nice bunch of lads. Picking opponents up off the turf. Media trained to the nines. Nice skin fades. Nice boots. Sanitised.
I sound Jurassic but it's true.
There are no nasty bastards in the team.
All fur coat and no knickers.
I remember when James O'Connor first made the Wallabies, I thought to myself that a kid like that would never make it in NZ rugby - not big enough, not powerful enough.
Only a few short years later and we had both D Mac and R Mounga as central cogs in our team and we are looking more and more like the Wallabies teams that O'Connor played in.
hold up... 2008 to 2023 is a few short years later? O'Connor's debut was 2008!
And McKenzie and Mounga both debuted in 2017, less than 10 years later.

On Lord - he has all the physical attributes but lacks co-ordonation and appetite to put them all together. On the other hand, IWL is similar, but it appears something has clicked in his brain, he was one of the better Canes in SR. I would like to see him at least given a shot at higher honors.
Not based on his performance today against Southland.
Yes but that's the mighty Southland, not piddly South Africa or Australia.
GO THE STAGS!

It's not just us though, is it. How many large first-fives are there out there at the moment after Handre Pollard?
Have you seen Marcus Smith's thighs?
-
Feeling the least confidence for an Eden park test in a looooong time.
-
If our kicking was a comparative strength, we could squeeze the life out of Argentina. As it stands, I'm worried we'll be playing all the rugby, often at the wrong end of the field.

I reckon if Mounga also still wore his shorts from under 8s his thighs would look just as big.

@MN5 no way! You've never mentioned him before?
First time this year I think. I need to keep the legend alive
You didn't disappoint, bit quicker next time though eh?

You said Central cogs in the team, which they weren't in 2017

nah. We won't lose - and if we do, knives will be out and rightly so.
But this is EP. And our forwards will step up I'm sure. I don't think Argentina will be as desperate

Neither of those guys are as big or fast as Rieko or Clarke.
We’ll find out soon enough
Kriel especially is on fire

Will tell you when I hear. Not as many spare seats as I was thought. If I had to guess somewhere between 35k and 40k
