Wellington v Hawkes (RS)

Haha, just saw the headline on social media, came.here to find out more, did I what....this thread is TSF gold.

Apparently it's a whole new piece and was restored. Therefore I blame the nzru. Otherwise probably laws of average given we have probably held it the most the last twenty years.
On the plus side given we have it for the next nine months should be plenty of time to repair/re-brake it.

The Shield is still cool huh?
And here's me thinking players and teams would respect it.
Dumb Hawkes bogans

Ignore the clickbait title.
What clickbait? Didn't your mob break the shield?

Iām not angry, Iām just disappointed
Harsh.
Real harsh.

I blame Norman McKenzie for instilling this misplaced sense of arrogance into HB rugby players 100 years ago.

Iām not going to be satisfied until I get a press conference and a tearful apology from all involved.

Awesome stuff HB š.. get that shield back to the provinces where it's appreciated
Appreciated by smashing it to pieces? Philistines, it was just restored this year
100% take my comment back! Send it back to Wellington. š

The new shield was built by a company in Wellington. Absolute stitch up. Likely inserted something in the wood to explode once they lost the shield. Shoddy workmanship.

I kind of agree with Scotty Stevenson on the shield getting smashed, I not only pissed that it happened, obviously player taking it home who don't care, but then another piston wristed gibbon thought it a great idea to post pictures/video on line of how funny they thought it was! Probably me being a grumpy old bastard who has thought the Shield meant heaps, I don't even think there anything to make jokes about!

I think that's what annoys most people. Everyone would acknowledge that accidents happen, but it's what you do next that matters, and taking photos of said broken shield and posting it on social media (even in a semi-private setting like Snapchat or a WhatsApp group or whatever) is dumb.
I suspect there's more to come too...
