2023 Cricket World Cup - Other Matches

As I said earlier in the thread, I had no expectations coming into this game, so I'm not about to turn into a gloating Aussie.
However, I am pleased to make a single exception in this case:

I genuinely thought I hated Indian cricket more than anything eise in sports.
And then I watched Australia team celebrating winning.
Turns out thereβs another team above India.
Four more years.

Just saw the result. That is farking hilarious.

Surely the BCCI must be asking how much money they need to spend to buy a trophy? It has been a long drought on the short-form stage.
Alright, alright, you can stop going on about it now. Sheesh.
Unbelievable arrogance

Well congrats Australia, in the end a comfortable victory, contained the Indian batsmen and Head stood up with the match winning innings when it mattered.
Remarkably they managed to silence the crowd with their bowling which no-one saw coming.
Cough cough

Yeah have to give credit to the Australian team (even if begrudgingly ) . That Indian team was particularly strong, high on confidence and at home. If any team was to beat them they would have had to put in a complete performance and that fielding effort put them under pressure, which haven't been in for a while.
Well done Australia

I'm hoping @Virgil logs on to take you down a peg or twoβ¦.
But yeah, brilliant big match temperament to take the game which counted. I thought India would be pretty unstoppable to be honest.

Australia won that with the ball. When Rohit was seeing them like beach balls, and Kohli getting going it was looking ugly. Then Head takes a fucking screamer, and the clamps go on. But it was getting Kohli that fucked them, while he was there 300 looked on despite everyone else battling. The whole unit bowled well, good plans, good lengths, and took the pace off the ball over and over.
I may have said this a couple of times this year, but Travis Head is so fucking good now, that's an all-time knock. 130,000 very quiet fans.
Considering how shit Australia looked a month ago this is quite some turnaround

Oh, and Dan won a World Cup

I remember reading someone on here saying how the tournament was long enough for teams and players to play themselves in and out of form. Was true individually of Devon Conway after his great start against England.
Also worked well in favour of Aussie moving up through the gears, and India playing long enough for an off day to finally slip in for their top order. The relatively long tail must play on the minds of Rahul and co when early wickets fall.
They were already on the move up, but Maxwell singlehandedly turning around the looming Afghan loss must have been huge for the self belief about Australia winning from anywhere too.

reading about the reactions makes this even better. Stay classy India.
