Some others
Tyrel Lomax - 5
At 129kg, the biggest of the starting players gave a solid shift.Rieko Ioane - 6
Winger-cum-midfielder continues to develop as a ball-carrying centre. Distribution knack was untested in the no-space physical encounters.Jordie Barrett - 6
Fullback-cum-midfielder shone in Mendoza, but faced tougher test here against RWC-winning Bok midfield. With much of the traffic in his channel, defence and breakdown work was the order of the night. Did carry-and-bash well when the chances came. But if that's them on an average night, it bodes pretty fucking well when they turn up the dial right?
Lomax playing at 200% of today's effort would be the prop performance of our lifetime.

Frenchie wasn't too bad - but had his French flair moments - felt he got very loose with rucks at times - specifically with the entries and holding your feet.
I thought the Boks got away with spinning their feet around after entry - so starting straight then rolling around the side.
Yeah that was happening a heck of a lot in that period where they started to come back into it.

We won't win the World Cup without Will Jordan in the team.
We have a lot of depth in the back three but he's just something else.

As predicted.
NZ Herald player ratings.Beauden Barrett - 8
A premium effort, well worth the price of admission at an unfamiliar venue for non-leaguies. Barrett made a telling difference with his distribution from hand and foot either at the back or as first receiver. Lucky not to concede a 25th-minute try after losing the ball in the air against the shortest outside back in world rugby. That's pretty fair if you ignore some of his poor kicking decisions. But you can't.

Weathered the storm, stayed calm and took control. Progress.
I wonder how much was due to no Sam Cane, Ardie as captain, or team tactics playing into the Boks' hands?
Think Cane coming off may have had a bit of an impact on 6/7/8 and it took a while to get back into the groove at the restart. Maybe took Paps a while to settle in. As Foster said in the presser, they were pleased they managed to ride it out.

So the Big Bad Boks aren’t so big or so bad.
No such thing as a Boks side which isn't big or bad v the ABs. They bring their A game pretty much every time and long may it continue.

Our midfield delivered. Solid as a rock.
Jordie was solid and unspectacular. Which is exactly what I want to see.

Beaudy Def worst on the team. I await him getting high scores by the press
He was rocks and diamonds. Annoying thing is most of the rocks bit should be easy to fix/cut out. Needs the same sort of motivational arse-kick that Frizell clearly got pre-season.

Lomax 5 ? Did NZ Herald watch the same match as I did ? He held his own against arguably the best scrummaging LHP in the world and was very effective in the rucks, assuring quick ball thanks to his well timed and powerful cleaning. I would have given him an 8.

Are we on the Foster bandwagon now?
He isn't Coaching Jesus and has made some serious fuck-ups, but we're stuck with him, he's hung in there and things look a little bit brighter. Just a pity it took a year longer than it should have done.

Best ABs opening 20 since handing Ireland a ¼ final exit. Frizzell was sensational in that period. Cane is also playing very well and I think it helps ardie having frizzell doing some of the hard yards. A bit worrying that SA came back we need other bench options then Vaai and papalii in my opinion. Jordan and telea are light years better than Clarke. We might actually have a chance in France, especially if we can negotiate our ¼ final.

I'm going to have to rewatch. What did BB do wrong?

Referee was excellent, I thought.
Yeah, not 100% a dick, no.
Had his Random Frog moment with the free kick against Taylor.
I've seen that shit before and it pisses me off. Sanction the fuckers that aren't standing back off the mark.
-
@booboo aside from a few poor kicks and decisions (assuming they weren't part of game plan) otherwise was his best game in years.
While Christie made an outstanding tackle and created an excellent turnover, imo he is a massive problem for our continuity.

Imagine if he hadn't missed all those tests with his head issue too.
He should be getting the ball at 15 with the full field to run at.
Even though he is a gun at 14, the defender still has the touchline to use against him.
From 15 I think he will be unstoppable.
Do it Fozzie, PLEASE.

Vaai has done nothing to impress me in his cameos in black thus far. I don't see it.
