Bazball rocks !!!
But for Cummins and Lyon scratching out 60 runs, England would be lauded to the rafters.
Also, if Aus lose (and even if they don't) Langer's mates have really got it in for Cummins. he's not a great captain, but the aussie toxicity is ridiculous
-
If England go on to win this series there will be a blood letting back home
There are still more than a few people unhappy with how Langer got rissolled. Every success since then will be forgotten as scapegoats are sought

Any poor fluffybunnies on the fern who actually live in Manchester ? Can they confirm the weather report ?
Australia are really all sorts of fucked if the rain doesn’t save them. Their big batting guns just haven’t quite fired. Simple as that.( bus change is still in to be fair )
Going in with two batting all rounders hasn’t helped the bowling either.

It is not looking good for England at 9:45 am

There might be some play this afternoon. Morning session will be washed away.
England need enough play for 60 overs to win I think
-
I thought England were carrying on like a pack of piston wristed gibbons when they went on about moral victories etc in the first two tests.
…..but if the Weather or an extraordinary rearguard effort from Australia means they don’t actually win here they they’re probably justified in going on about it. They’ve been incredible this match.
Bad luck Bairstow, sux to end up unbeaten on 99 ( good for the average though )
At least he did it in 81 balls. Geoffrey Boycott did it in 285 back in the day !
-
Too much talk of the weather. That’s going to be tight, yes, but of bigger concern is getting the wickets. England didn’t look even close to taking 5-6 wickets yesterday.
Time to start rueing the missed chances IMHO. They’ve proven they were good enough but a collection of poor decisions and selections in tests 1 and 2 have cost them the chance to takes the ashes.
Disappointing.

The Aussies will be choosing the multi-course lunch option

Such a shit way to win/lose the Ashes
And the officials still haven't officially called it
Absolute joke

Finally
Match Abandoned
Draw
Australia retain the Ashes

It is what it is. We’ve been saved by the rain God knows how many times.
Looking back on the series so far though, I’d say England were in better shape and have a deal less soul searching to do than Aus. England have pretty much dictated the pace of each match and in reality Aus have been clinging on. Done it well mind, but I don’t think I’ve seen an Aus side this worried about how an opposition side will play. It’s like the idea of Spazball is more in Australian minds that English minds.
All very strange and roll on the Oval. Let’s hope Mark Wood is up to another test on the trot. Oh, and here’s a thing, why can’t England keep their properly fast bowlers fit?
