That 9, 10, and 11 batting lineup from Australia won't keep the scorers busy for long in this series.
No Starc actually makes a big difference to their tail batting
-
Tactically perfect collapse by the Aussies. Gave them the best bowling conditions likely to be observed in the test, if not the series.
Can't see any more play happening today honestly. Huge weather system come in from France brining warm, humid air with it. Very Hong Kong like today in Britain.
-
On the one hand I suppose it is "part of the game". On the other hand, there's something a bit laughable about a military medium pacer giving a gobby send off to a decent bloke on 141 who's batted for an entire day and then some.
-
Moeen has been fined for unauthorised use of a drying spray on his hands.
Friend of the Fern Nat Rarere was on radio this morning saying use of the same spray in baseball would get you banned from the sport because it allows you to get more purchase and therefore spin on the ball.
Doesn't seem to have helped him all that much.

@Donsteppa Robinson comes across as a massive knob.
He does but at least cancel culture didn’t end his test career before it even started.
……and despite my views on him you have to admire his passion.

In this instance I guess it was more about trying to dry out the blister.
Apparently the same referee fined another spinner recently. It'd be hard to plead ignorance.
So clearly a 25% fine isn't enough to stop it happening. Do the players actually pay the fine or do the teams sneakily cover that?

What a loser. 'Australia gave send-offs all the time' - yeah mate we did. We did it when you had a bloke under the pump, dismissed him for single figures and then could remind him that he just failed at the ONE thing he'd trained for all his life, in front of the world and his friends and his family. They might have travelled to be there, and they came to watch him fail and now he has to trudge off back to the pavilion while we all sit silently and watch him go.
You send-off when you can feel a man's throat under your foot and you just want to press down one more time to remind him of where he is.
That's how an Australian does a send-off champ.
You, on the other hand, decided to bowl over after over of pure dross before Usman got bored in the 140s and decided to try and hit you over deep cover.
Then as Usman turns to triumphantly return to the pavilion to the adulation of the fans, you decide to throw in a send-off. What in God's name gave you the idea that you had the right to do that? You should have been joining in the applause, not gobbing off mate. I hate to think what you will do in the unlikely event you dismiss one of our bats for less than 10, if that's what you do for a bloke on 140.
This is why other countries shouldn't try and emulate Australia. It's not because of ethics or morals or anything, it's because when you do try you are just shit at it.

This is SUCH an Aussie post. Brilliant.
England did manage a first innings lead though which is worth pointing out.
-
@barbarian it is funny though that an aussie thinks they should decide where the line is? lol
For the record I do think he was a dick head as well, great post too
-
@barbarian Maybe he did it to try and get under your skin ....
I thought he looked a bit of a fool, but now I think it's totally worth it to see this sort of reaction.
This is kind of like a Kiwi trying to lecture others about playing rugby within the laws.

I don't think what Robinson did crossed the line. The line is irrelevant.
He just acted like a man who had never known success at the highest level. A man who when push comes to shove doesn't believe he has what it takes.
He shouldn't be fined or sanctioned. He should just be embarrassed.
-
I think Australia are a bit too classy, professional and seasoned to get rattled by Robinsons actions.
Definitely a case of the press making a big deal about nothing.
They should focus on the actual cricket instead of the other bullshit, that is enthralling enough.

No, I really don't.
Funny side note to this story: I made a tweet commenting on the Poms carrying on like pork chops and some random starts tut-tutting "Aussie Uzzie" for daring to celebrate his ton.
Go through the random's twitter timeline, and it's all nascent racism. Fun.
-
I doubt the Australian cricketers will care much either way, besides a retaliatory barrage of chin music at Robinson and the gun-shy Broad.
I think @barbarian nailed it. Maybe sending off Labuschagne for a golden duck in innings one of the Series, or Warner for being Warner. But not Usman after compiling 141 in over a day against you.
I don't think it's about the big ticket stuff like custodians of the game, whatabout when they did x, or the bigger stuff. It's just about Robinson continuing to be an oaf.

Yeah well……….
At least he’s not Brad Haddin
Anyway, safest thing to do is to be a complete robot by the sounds of things. Apparently this carry on just isn’t cricket.

When you get in the end zone, act like you've been there before.
-
@barbarian Out of interest what was your take on Usman celebrating his century like a 4 year old girl on xmas day opening up to see a Barbie doll? As this celebration kind of suggests the same as what you said about Robinson - doesn't believe he has what it takes etc.
I don't know why people let this stuff get under their skin so much.
Passion, heat of the moment, top level sport. Its what you want to see. Give me this over robots anyday.
