The deeper we go into the tourney, the more Aura grows
For those not aware (most of the forum, I'd say), Ewan McKenna is not a rugby journalist. I think soccer is his sport, and he regularly annoys Irish rugby fans with his anti-rugby diatribes.
In saying that, people are spending WAY too much time worrying about anti-AB comments in the media and on social media. They only exist because of NZ's success etc. Just let these sort of things go...they are not going away.

to me it feels more like a commercial stage show than the challenge it used to be. It's the microphones, and the "ooh which one will they do" followed by "oh it's the old one, they don't respect you bro" and the legislated allowable responses. It's a sideshow, play the bloody game.
And it's lead by a bloody half back.
Note: the advantage shit is absolute horseshit though.
How the F would you know, you haven;t watched it in ages.
That was bloody hilarious.

We don't put those microphones there. World rugby loves the haka for the commercial aspect
yeah, i am sure the NZRU and AIG hate it, and wouldn't have a bar of it if it wasn't for WR
The mics or the haka?
the mics
That's show business
totally, and i get that. But now it is basically a marketing tool, hasn't it lost its meaning?
For us or the players?

The aura is so strong that Jamie Joseph and Tony Brown have rubbed some of it off on Japan.
I hope watching Ireland get smacked made the Irish Haka-moaning idiot really f**king miserable.

It was probably regarded as a cute novelty back in the 70s and earlier
It was really important in the '60's and before away from NZ from what I've read. Terry McLean's book on the '63-64 tour mentions the haka practices and the importance to the team.
Faded in the 70's and we ended up with the embarrassing disco "haka".

Don't you think Hansens' been looking hard at Ireland since they beat us last year and it looked possible we'd run into them at the RWC. Going to be tasty I reckon

I think we will smoke them. Not even slightly concerned that we will come second.

@nzzp think he means Ireland will be shitting themselves facing the scary Haka
Didn't mean to quote @Hooroo -- pushed the wrong replyquote button thingy in a hurry.
The Aura clearly still operating at peak performance

Aura alive and well in Camp Canada
"They are the ones that the movies are made about, that you see on TV, so there is a bit of an aura around them," Campbell said
Great attitude to take into a test, honoured to be smashed by the ABs!

It's like the Dream Team in 1992

A bit of a weird one isn't it, but if I could play tennis with Federer I would. Be lucky to win a point, but I'd still want to do it.

Gary Lineker dared to mock the haka and received the full force of a John Campbell cuckdown in response
aaand we are all dumber, thanks to that.
Guy makes a joke, not a good joke, but a joke, about something that doesn't affect him. hur hur nice one Gary. It's not even a bad joke, i bet there are a lot of people who think it's a bit funny while facing it.
And BANG! The twitter mob is mobilised. And along predictable lines. Defense first from some. Claims of "white supremacy" and colonialism.
Gary apologies and deletes. Once again the mob was right.
And John fucking Campbell is given a platform to try and appear the tolerant one. FMD

No one has to like Walkers Crisps. No one has to like the haka. Over-reaction to Linekar's tweet (a harmless attempt at humour) is ridiculous.
