right, key points for me
- argentina didn;t seem to e implementing the rush defence, just seemed to be waiting for us, left it all on the field last week? our backline definitely had more time to do shit, that and their shit handling helped a lot
But, we still had to make the most of it
That's because they had to hold back due to the kicking game and the varied ball movement. No use rushing if you don't have a target.
- im sure i heard at about 60min in we'd only made two handling errors...thats what we use to see all the time
Really? Very low error rate games aren't that common I would think. Might see if a stats search can support that.
far from the finished article, i hope we keep building on this
cane needs to keep putting in performances like that, i would still be interested to see
12 jordie 14 reece,15 jordanHavili had a good game and i wouldn't drop him purely on the performance...but i still suspect that combo would be stronger than the sum of its parts
As much as I am not a fan of Havili, do you really want to undo all of the pain we have endured to get a 12/13 combo going and put another one in? JB would make a good 12 with a gameplan built around his skills but he is chalk and cheese to Havili.

which is good if its something we've actually forced out of them, i felt it was the other way in that havili and RM had a little more time and so started kicking but im not a back so will concede the point and hope that youre right

just what i thought i heard from the commentary, have not and prob will not checked

im a little worried if we're that fragile that it would undo all the hard work and pain, not campaigning for it as yes, havili played well, he just needs to back it up now

@Snifters probably because of how outstanding he was there last year, they are hoping he will recapture that form. Agree though they should give him a rest and play Reece there against Aus

@Snifters Clarke hasn't been too flash either since his return from injury.
Broke two Saffers in two weeks with his running though

Why persist with Jordan on the wing? Is that Fosters M.O persist with players? Play them until they finally deliver a great performance ala the captain last week?
Jordan needs a rest and a bona fide winger needs a crack.I'm not against Jordan having a rest but, yes there is an element of playing the 'best' players into form from these coaches rather than making changes.
I guess that the theory is that changing players while embedding processes needs to be kept at a minimum to get best uptake.
Not saying that I agree in every instance but they will have a far better idea on who is 'close' to getting their piece of the puzzle right than we do.
Once these guys have shown an ability to rinse and repeat, then it is time to rotate through depth.
Jason Ryan made a good point in that the way they are training, the remainder of the squad are getting plenty of 'game time' play against the starters. They aren't going rusty. -

nearly did the same to a Puma too!
(edit I know they aren't Pumas, sorry, force of habit).. -

@Victor-Meldrew he's a fullback, being played out of position, and he looks like he doesn't really know what to do. Same reason Jordie was a bit shit when he was played on the right wing.
As others have said, he was probably our most dangerous player (playing on the wing) until a few Tests back. He's going thru a bad patch and may need a rest for a game or two, but Foster is right sticking to him on the wing.

(edit I know they aren't Pumas, sorry, force of habit)..Hope Clarke doesn't get himself into trouble with the way he goes into contact ball in hand. I have noticed he is prone to leading with the knee or forearm/elbow sometimes. Nothing malicious but a ref may take exception to it one day, especially if someone gets injured.

@Crazy-Horse he's bloody clumsy, as Alaimalo could probably attest to.

Yeah I forgot about that.

On the Ardie/Jordan pace debate, I actually thought Jordan slowed up as Ardie was always going to get to the ball/player first.
You and your "facts" ruining a good indignation.
Good to know what neps "thought" is fact. Kudos @Nepia !

Fair enough.
I'll rephrase as "you and your rationality" ...

If you haven’t seen Jase Ryan on the most recent breakdown, try to see it.
He owned up to some poor preparation on his side for the first Argentina test, rather than just blaming the players, he explained clearly how they could all get a few percent better starting with himself.
Feels like a man who you’d like to have a beer with and listen to talk about rugby.

I guess I'm probably not as rational as Jordan. Had never thought to slow up when I was the fastest in the team in case someone behind me was gonna get there first 😁

Possibly he thought Ardie was a better tackler?
And.or he was hoping to scoop up any loose ball once Ardie secured the tackle...
