Statement from NZ Rugby boss Mark Robinson following the squad announcement:
"The past fortnight has been a challenging time for us and of course our fans.
“There have been some thorough conversations this week, as there always are around our performance environments, and these will continue.
“It’s exciting to be heading back to South Africa for the first time in several years - we have two big games ahead of us there and our focus now is to support the team to improve performance and be successful.””
I fucking knew it!
The LinkedIn PR person has been spoon-feeding the Media Clichés 101 text book into Foster...

SENZ radio said the PR team at NZR refused to let media live stream the press conference. This is just really dumb media relations. The organisation is looking completely incompetent.
I don’t know all the ins and outs of SENZ and NZRU, but do they always live stream every team announcement?
If not, then it’s hard to see that this isn’t just more games to add to the narrative building.
All media was barred from live streaming it. From a PR perspective it is just a dumb decision.

i for one am comforted that the right people are there, and all that is required is some changes.
of course, i would be a lot more comforted if the same people hadn't have been there late last year, and the same changes weren't needed. but, you know, the fuck do i know?
but i am not sure what people were expecting? 2 weeks until the next test, with the 2022 plans only 3 weeks old? No way they can change things now. Any changes for the next test will be minimal, in terms or players or plan. The same structural deficiencies will exist, but there will be focus on "doing the same shit but better"

Speaking at today's media conference, Foster said he was still the All Blacks head coach and in the past few days the team had developed a clear plan forward.
He said the All Blacks did not achieve what they should have in the series against Ireland and "robust conversations" have been held since with New Zealand Rugby management.
He said he had heard there needed to be change and he was working behind the scenes to achieve that, though he would not say what those changes will be.
"You can ask me a hundred times what that is and I won't be able to give you an answer just yet. I'd like you to bear with me, but we've got things in place right now and as soon as I can let you know a couple changes I'll let you know as soon as possible."
In plain English, he does not know.

realistically, what actual changes are available up front?
Bower will deservedly stay
ST can come in to hooker
Both our tightheads are shit
Retallick is out so Barrett in with Whitelock
Cane is captain and Ardie must start so that means a change at 6? or Save shifts to 6 and a new #8 brought inThat's it. That's what can be done.

@Frye I thought the Facebook channel had it? Not that I was looking.
Nah. They only live stream things when everything is going well.

@mariner4life add a gameplan and streaks ahead of the Irish tour!

@Frank said in All Blacks squad - The Rugby Championship:
Are assistant coach changes actually happening?
Or was this not the time to announce this?
Confused.Sounds like they're working through the HR processes. Hopefully the feedback received in the last few days has made it clear who isn't doing their job to the required level. Especially those who haven't improved from last year.

Hansen ball. The same shit but better - trouble is it hasn’t been better, it’s been worse. We haven’t improved since last World Cup. Times running out to find that magic formula.

Absolutely, pretty hard to fire someone anywhere without a payout unless you demonstrate sustained failure of your KPIs and no improvement. While it may seem obvious to us what failure looks like, what is written in their own objectives might not be so black and white. They will be walking through the process and ticking all the boxes to legally fire someone minimal payout

SA paying $2.75 to win the RC. Get on it.
Not sure about that but I will be backing the Wobs to win the Bledisloe if Cooper is fit again.
Only 2 bled games this year, one at Eden park, Oz need to win both. Even foster follies will probably retain the bled. My prediction, 2 losses Vs SA, shared games Vs Oz and Arg. World ranking 7th by the end

Not surprised at all mate, I always suspected he would get back in, as I have said we need a six who carries close to the breakdown to give a target, whether he plays or not we will see, just not surprised he there.
