Super Rugby 2023

@Stargazer come on man, its not going to be any old player, it will be the NPC players that havent picked up a super contract....like it is now often....but just stops teams picking up people coming off japanese contracts...before buggering off again or coming out of semi retirement and makes the super teams invest more time in the local scene
-
@Kiwiwomble I don't hink the idea of loan players is not something that is done lightly. and would't hace a case of players playing for 5 teams. You would only do it with long term injuries, and normal rules only allow for 1 loan team a year. And if you got a young fella that needs to get game time isn't it handy to have another team giving him some gametime and picking up his wages? Chiefs have already shown the way by sending Trask to Japan for a year (deal they set up) . No team would probably want a loan player if they got some NPC players in club scene in their area anyway. Just think it has pluses worth looking at.
-
@Dan54 that a little different to a central pool with NZR rating players and stuff the teams could draw on for short contracts which is what was originally suggested
team loaning players to each other is effectively what happens now, often see player pop up (especially for the highlanders it feels) that were in another teams WTG the week before, so i dont quite see what gets changed/fixed

I solved this with my 3 levels simultaneously concept
The usual suspects weren't having a bar of it
-
But what’s only just coming to light are the unintended consequences of that decision, the most significant of which has left the Sanzaar alliance – between New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina – seriously considering the most radical change in living memory by shifting the Rugby Championship to March-April and playing Super Rugby between May and September.

NZ and Aus finally realising that the 6N is immutable

More SA realising it, it is them that wanted to get in!

People just don't appreciate your genius. I know that feeling.

I for one - and in a very small minority - would love to see the NH season switch to the 'Summer' months to
a) make the most of the better weather
b) align the rugby calendarIf you've ever been to Edinburgh or Paris in January or February you'll understand - colder than a witch's tit
But money talks and bullshit walks
6N is the pre-eminent annual rugby competition with too much history and tradition to tamper with
My ideal scenario would be club/regional/provincial rugby followed by European cup competitions followed by 6N followed by domestic internationals / overseas tours / Lions

@MiketheSnow I lived in the UK for 13 or 14 years, including 4 in St Andrews, so yeah I know Edinburgh in winter LOL

it was the plural you not the singular

“…the logical [answer] is that as long as you play in a competition that New Zealand [Rugby] is an owner in, what about that?"
“In other words, if you play in Super Rugby Pacific, could you be eligible for the All Blacks? That to me, if there was to be a change, that’s probably the logical change to go to.”
About time to wake up to reality, eh?
-
Remember when Canberra-born Tyrel Lomax left the Rebels and signed for the Highlanders so he could realise his dream of playing for the All Blacks?
If he is playing in the exact same competition, why shouldn’t Lomax be considered for the All Blacks?
Umm, does anyone seriously think he'd have metamorphized into the player he is now if he stayed?

Ironically I think their chances are better than ever with clubs collapsing - they bring $$$ and the NH desparately need that right now.
For rugby reasons, I can't see it happening, but for commercial I suspect it's right back on the table

I agree with you. After all, it used to be the 5N...
