QF Brumbies vs Hurricanes

Holland is not a Super Rugby level head coach, it’s as simple as that. He got there by mistake.
I will be pissed off if he’s there next year. He doesn’t deserve to be head coach of this club.

If the Blues lose to the Brumbies….
I got the team I wanted in the Semifinals. Let’s see how well they travel to Eden Park.
You got the team I wanted.
I was quite happy a few weeks back when it looked like the Chiefs would be in your side of the draw!

Rather avoid NZ teams until we have to play them. Have fun with the chiefs!

Well as a Canes'man you should know he's signed for next year. I not sure how good or bad he is, I do know realistically even as a Canes'man I know we haven't got the cattle to go deeper into the comp than we have. Unfortunately doesn't matter how I look at it Canes are a team of reasonable super players, with the likes of JB, Ardie and sometimes TJP carrying the team, and we get an occasional flash of something from a few of the other players to excite us. It's what it is, we surely need to find some solid big tighties, so I will just keep supporting them and hope a few good young ones come through.
Will add I was quite comfortable with Brumbies win, they were clearly better team, I was disappointed we didn't get upset, but not overly upset, as it was a pretty fair result and where the both teams are . -

Unsure why but the players have declined under Holland. Thankfully we still have a few good one. Like Barrett Savea and Perenara. I hope we can hold onto them all and others who are close to AB quality. Esp Barrett who might be tempted by offers from the Blues or Crusaders
I hope somehow what I see as a slow Canes decline can be stopped. I don't think Holland will be able to do it but who else is there. I felt confident 5-10 years back that we could retain our best players (and attract the most promising) but now Im unsure.
B Barrett, a key player, leaving was worse than I imagined. It sends a messsage. Blues is where its at. Not the Canes. We must hold onto Jordie at all costs. If he jumps ship and joins another NZ team this messsage will be amplified
Going overseas is different. But smart move by the Blues. They were in a position to go after a key award winning AB and they suceeded.

That fuckwit Holland used our bench very poorly - when their reserves forwards came on in the 2nd half we needed to bring on our forwards off the bench then too... it was ridiculous that both Blackwell & Gibson stayed on for the whole match.
When it started to rain it suited the dour way the Brumbies play, but we didn't help ourselves by not playing smart rugby in the last 20 odd minutes. -

Regarding the game. Morgans line clearances are poor. Reminds me of Gopperth. Its a key part of the game and something a 1st 5 needs to be strong at. He can't always rely on a Barrett to do it for him
Yeah, Morgan doesn't exit well with good distance with his punting, certainly a weakness in his game... which is why I prefer Love at 1st-five who gets a lot more distance with his clearing kicks.

Nothing to do with the cattle at all. It's all the fault of the coaches. String them up off a crane over Lambton Quay and the Canes will win the comp. Simple.
Canes are in the same spot that Blues were. Searching for a 10 that can take them through a winning campaign.
Funny thing is that Blues found a good one in Perofeta but it has taken many years to get a return on that investment so meanwhile they snaffled BB from you.
Put BB back in that side with some decent locks and you would be still in the hunt. -

Its a shame. Because otherwise for 21 he does well enough (he will never be a AB contender though)
But its a factor that I rate as a key for a 1st.

BB used to have terrible clearing distance. He would rarely get past the 22 from goal line kicks. Mind you he also used to be a turnstile on defence as well.
Some things can be learned. -

Agree, he has all the other skill sets needed at Ist-five - yeah, very important for a 10 to have a long punt, a skill he needs to work very hard on, I did notice once in that Brumbies match he did get good distance downfield from one of his punts... like anything the more you practice something the better you become at executing it well, so reckon he can make big improvements in that part of his game.

It's definitely not a good thing, he's like Hammett, a really poor head coach... Holland has no clue what our best 15 is, doesn't read the game well from the stand, doesn't know when to replace a player when they're playing poorly or when to use players off the bench at the right times etc.

You have just easily beaten one NZ side though.
The worst one, sure.
It’s just a fact that any games against NZ sides are harder than Aussie sides. Beating three kiwi teams to win a title is harder than two plus an Aussie side.

Is it? Name me a 10 that has a long punt equal to a fullback/wing?
They should have a decent clearing kick but mostly they need accuracy (although BB seemingly doesn't)

Will make sure you beat the Brumbies. The only hope to stop the Crusaders winning yet again is vs Blues in Auckland.

Some are poor. I always though BB was OK right from the start.

This weekend shows how important home advantage is, so we’ve prepared as best we can.
