Parker vs Takam - April 17th
-

I see that Parker and Takam have both fought Frans Botha in the space of 15 months, with Parker's TKO win in the 2nd Rd compared to Takam in the 11th.

A quick check shows Takam fights almost exclusively in France so it will be interesting to see where this fight ends up. If Duco wants to cash in they'll have to put plenty of money on the table.
-

Mate, look at it for what it is. There is no attack on Duco with this, so no need to be precious. Of course this is about $ for Duco, do you actually think they do it out of love for Parker and the NZ public? - they have rushed Parker into a major dangerous fight - which hey he could win. Takam is seriously decent. From where Parker is currently it is a substantial jump in quality of fighters. Probably a 3 tier jump in standard. Risky - MUCH!

Nobody knows what level Parker is at because his resume respectfuly is full of bums and sub par fighters and his last fight against a really low standard in Bergman cringe worthy. To jump up to Takam is BIG, certainly respect tha,t but the only way you can view it as is Duco deciding its time to cash in. Maybe Parker has a limited contract with them, who knows. But its pay day city if he beats Takam that is for sure!

Fight preparation he is not ready for Takam, but perhaps talent wise he probably is - this will be the biggest and probably hardest fight of his career - easy.

I believe Duco rushed Parker through a shit load of crap fighters in pretty quick succession to boost the look of his record on paper , he got to 18-0 very quickly , with all this in mind , lets get him up there as quick as we can

I guess its one of those things , if he is successful it will look like a masterstroke ,

If he gets totally outclassed , questions will be asked about his preparation and build up
-

Takam will be favorite to win this with the bookies overseas, if TAB do something stupid and make Parker favorite then jump on Takams odds as more than likely he will be paying way overvalue! - either way you win though id rather Parker win than pocket money.

Ok so NZ TAB has opened with Parker @ $1.40 and Takam @ $2.80

To me that's might high for Takam. Good value emotional hedge if Parker doesn't manage to win -

Itll be interesting to see how these odds stand up to other markets once the fight venue/country is decided.
-

Wow incredible odds being offered on Takam, I really believe Tab is banking on kiwi sentiment landsliding on Parker.

It took Povetkin until Round 10 to put Takam away in their war. Povetkin is a very talented heavyweight. Deontay Wilder has turned him down on 4 occasions to fight!

True odds are always priced out by at least 20 - 30c. So if Parker is paying 1.40 (71% chance of winning) then his true odds the tab value him with on the market are at least 1.60/70 (63 to 59%) which pushes out the overvalue on Takam.

Tab are saying that Takam only has a 36% chance of winning priced at 2.80. INCREDIBLE VALUE. Perfect odds to hedge your happiness!!!!

I think if I looked at the two boxers with no sentimentality id price it at

Takam $1.80

Parker $2.15
-
Aussie Lucas Big Daddy Browne is the new WBA heavyweight champion, first Aussie ever to be a world HW champ. Brown did it, TKO, in his opponents back yard and after being knocked down earlier.

But Browne isnt a boxers arsehole. If Wilder, Ortiz, Fury, Joshua, Parker, Povetkin want his belt they can waltz on in and take it, easily.

Browne is a pub fighter thats gotten really, really ridiculously far. Farther than I imagined anyway.

It's only an interim title , fury holds the real one , not intending to take anything away from him but it's not the ridgy didge one

One thing daddy brown has in his favour is Ricky Hatton as a manager who is well connected .

That goes a long way in the area of negotiation -

No looking like any negotiation now as Brown has reportedly failed a drug test and will supposedly be stripped of his title.
-

Result shouldnt be a NC tho. Needs to be a DQ!!

Parker's promoters Duco Events will reveal details at a media conference in Auckland on Wednesday.

Heavyweight up-and-comer Joseph Parker and battle-tested Carlos Takam will meet in a world title eliminator on May 21 at the Vodafone Events Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, Parker's hometown, Duco Events, Parker's promoter, announced on Tuesday.

The winner of the fight will become the mandatory challenger against the winner of the April 9 fight between American world titleholder Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) and British star Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs). The mandatory fight is due no later than Jan. 16, 2017.

Martin/Joshua is on at the O2 tomorrow which will be massive. Just got offered tickets thru work which I've had to turn down unfortunately. But should be a cracker. Pathway to Joshua-Parker by the end of the year, for one of the belts, is only 2 fights away. Then winner of that gets to fight Fury/Klitschko and have a shot at unification. Exciting.
-

AJ blasted Martin out in 2 rounds. Martin was hopeless, didn't even land a punch on AJ and didn't look capable as a heavyweight at all. Interesting that none of the several boxing experts on sky tv UK rate Parker. They all have Takam winning and taking AJ 6 rounds in a mandatory challenge.

Really want Parker to beat Takam and shut these guys up.

Parker would of beat Martin tonight easy as well. Really scary when you look at how the heavyweight division is shaping up,

Wilder
Fury
AJ
Ortiz
Povetkin
Klitskcho
Haye

Ustinov

Some super fights there, Parker will really need a strong performance over Takam (who is legit top 10 talent better than Martin) just to get any prime time love. In my mind Ortiz could possibly be the best of the lot.
Odds update...

Takam out to $4.50 now and Parker as a short as $1.20

So much value in that Takam emotional hedge -

Those odds are like Warriors vs Manly last night

Warriors $1.22
Manly $2.88
-
I watched Joshua smash Martin this morning without needing to show his hand or build up a sweat. He's holding all the cards right now.

I have a bad feeling about Takam . I saw a video today from Joshua, who is a bit of an unlikely advocate for Parker, saying that Takam is a bit of a mystery. He knew some guys that had sparred with him and the opinion was he was very strong and could take a beating.

2 ways to look at that. Taking a beating could mean that is what he expects to see. Parker beating him up. Or he will be there at the end.

I like Joshua. Hes intelligent and charismatic. Strangely he doesnt come across as cocky.

Parker is starting to believe his own hype a we bit. Hes obviously trying to sell himself and there has to be a lit of self belief in his sport. But he just looks, to me, like someone that is reading his own press and theres too many yes men around him. His swagger is fake, looks forced. False bravado.

Hope im wrong.
