Blues vs. Highlanders

Don't give a fuck about the negatives at the moment lol what a win! Blake Gibson what a star he will be.

Enjoyed that game way more than I expected - thought it would be error-strewn and cagey but both teams looked good and the pace of the game was right up there.

Gibson - what a prospect.

Couldn't agree more, he looked bloody good last year and continues to show promise.
-

What did I miss, I thought the Blues did win...
-

You can fuck your NH porridge...THIS is what we watch rugby for - so many positives, creativity and vision right from the off in the very first game

What an excellent start to the season, bloody excellent, am loving it well worth getting up early for..

Well done Tana's Blues! But What a last minute try, Bender!

Great game to watch, long may it continue..
-

Am keeping a lid on things, but yeah looking an excellent prospect - big boots and jersey to fill
-

Blake Gibson ,im not going to say future Allblack yet because I would like to see more of him first , but that was pretty impressive for a 20 year old in that position

Gibson is definitely a star. Number 6 could be his best position, with Sam Cane about?

Skill level was amazing. Almost no scrums. Great game!

He's definitely got blindside physicality, but I think 7 is his best position. Sort of short for a 6 too.

Now you know why Karpik ran away from Auckland. Lots of Blues fans were crying over not picking up Karpik, but they had no idea how good Gibson was. Gibson has always been rated higher than Karpik but has had less media hype for some reason.
-

Is that true - maybe here on the Fern we know about him due to his uber fan hyping him ;).

TBF, I can't stand Karpik's hair so that might explain why I've always rated Gibson higher ....
-

Exactly and all Blues fans on here know that. Karpik got more attention because of his haircut which made him stand out but I do think that he is a very good player, just never thought he was as good as Gibson.
-
Who is this Karpik???

Gibson on the other hand is the real deal -

Blonde flanker with longish hair who played at 7 for Auckland in the ITM Cup last year.
-

Sorry AM I was trying to be funny. I know who Karpik is and have seen him play quite a few times. He's okay but even at this stage he doesn't read the game like Gibson showed for the u20s or in the ITM Cup. -

I wonder who that fan is. Give that man a job at the Herald or Stuff, because he's getting the scoop before the media.

TO BE HONEST, ferners were super impressed with Karpik's play in the ITM Cup, but were not calling for Gibson to dumped for him.

Oh yeah, I know that. I was referring to the Blues' fans on facebook who acted like when we lost Karpik, we had no good opensides in the team anymore.

If Gibson was not injured during the ITM Cup, Karpik sits on the bench. At the end of last year, Feeney was asked to talk about the young players in Auckland, and he mentioned Blake Gibson, along with TJ Faiane, as two players he thought were special and would go on to be All Blacks.

Karpik is definitely good though, but Gibson can do everything he can do, but better.
-

Haha my bad. Sarcasm not my strongest point.
-
Was that the first game of the season or the first game of the finals? Cracking game great tries with a high skill and execution level.

Impressed with a number of guys on both sides. Apparently I missed rugby -
