Strap yourselves in.

@Canes4life So basically, we need to Chiefs and Highlanders to win with a bonus point and the Bulls to smash the Lions (who need to lose without a bonus point)?
-
To me this reads that BB is off to the comedy Blues.
If you are signing on with your same team, you usually just say.
Gold if so!

I still reckon he's dangling the Blues carrot to juice up the contract with the Canes and squeeze every $ out of them.
That said, we'd take him in a heartbeat - we'd wreck him at 10 so quickly he'd be back to being a 15 before you know it, and Mo'unga can take over the reins

From that article:
The fact he wants to wait until after the Super Rugby season will no doubt be interpreted by some as an indication he is set to sign for the Blues. One would think if he was set to put pen to paper with the Hurricanes, there would be no need to delay such an announcement, as has been the case with the likes of Brodie Retallick and Sam Whitelock. An announcement of a shift away from his current club could be seen as a distraction through the playoffs. But there could also be a unique scenario where he does not commit to any Super Rugby club until closer to his return. Stuff understands Barrett will not make a decision until after the Hurricanes' campaign, preferring to focus on the Super Rugby playoffs before he switches his attention fully to his future.

Could it be that he is getting a sabbatical?
-
Makes you wonder why not just announce it if he's staying at the Canes.I think waiting may have a bigger impact on the Canes its an Elephant in the room.Waiting to after SR will fuel the move to the Blues rumour's.All the articles are pointing towards a Sabbatical at least for 2020.
-
@Canes4life Thats why its hasn't been handled well has it.You guys may not have BB next year either way sabbatical I think.
Where does that leave the Canes for First Fives fuk all around. -
@Canes4life Is Marshall not off to Japan as well its on wiki
-
@Chris Yes, it must be very confusing for all players - esp for those who signed contracts before 2019 - too. I hope their agents did a good job and that their contracts literally spell out the months/years they are signed for and not something like "the 2019-2020 top league season".

Interesting listening to this interview: https://www.radiosport.co.nz/sport-news/rugby/report-beauden-barrett-will-ditch-hurricanes-for-the-blues/
Patrick McKendry sounds almost adamant the deal is done. He will look like a big d%&k if this doesn't come to fruition. Says he heard from a very reliable source that Barrett is going to the Blues, it was also backed up by two other sources.
