New Zealand under 20

Penalty to Australia!

-

The penalty kick - last act of the game - 23metres out, 15metres in from right touch - is over. Australia win 25-24.

-

How the fuck were Australia not penalised for being miles offside at the ruck when New Zealand's clearing kick didn't go out?

-

How awesome would it be to see Jordie Barrett line up outside his brother for the Canes next year. He is a beast on defense and can kick goals, not too shabby on attack either. :good: (I remember another white boy from Taranaki tackling like that. Ended up being one of the All Blacks greatest centres of all time).

I see he has already got himself contracted with Canterbury though so may very well end up in Crusader colours, however province doesn't necessarily mean the same Super franchise. I just hope his bro has a good chat to him and influences him to come to the Capital where their combination could flourish, after all they are siblings.

Second five is already taken at the Crusaders with Ryan Crotty. It would make sense for him to come to the Canes where his dad played, where his brother became an All Black and where the second five position is still wide open IMO. I guess it depends where he's studying. That is probably the biggest factor in a lot of players decisions these days.
-

Fonotia is leaving next season, so there's a midfield spot available at the Crusaders next season. I also wouldn't be surprised if Fruean won't come back next season. As Crotty can play 12 and 13, the Crusaders could use a talented, young midfielder to fight for a spot with Havili. I'm quite confident, that there will be a Barrett brother who will become an All Black at the Crusaders, too. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Scott makes the EOYT squad already this year.
-

They have Jack Goodhue already in the Canterbury system and part of the 2016 Crusaders squad, has been injured and only just back playing I understand.
-

Who would you prefer taniwha?? Barrett or Goodhue?

On another note I had a look on clubrugby.co.nz and apparently Isaia Walker-Leawere and TJ Va'a both made returns from injury over the weekend. Hopefully they can both put a case forward to be included in that 20s World Cup side. Isaia being the incumbent from the NZ Schools would add much needed size to our forward pack.
-

Goodhue was captain of NZ U20 last year (or was it the year before?)...so Barrett is just newer and shinier, oh, and from canes region I guess???
-

No, not that I've read. Either a bad call or some amazing outside back talent available.

I see Robertson has said there is a good balance because there is 9 guys who'll be available next year, thus providing "youth and exuberance". That's just great Scott, I'm sure the exuberance a 19 year old brings to a side is just so much more than what a 20 year old does.

-

Wow no Emerson. Umaga Jensen is out inured and it hasnt been mentioned so maybe Emerson picked up something in that first game aswell.
