Christ what a load of crap. How long was that pregame shit btw? Does anyone actually watch that?

Apparently "people" are "outraged" by Thaidays virgin comments. Admittedly it was a pretty bizarre thing to say but who really cares.

Australian public must be thrilled they can get worked up and outraged again, they had to go days if not a week without some black fluffybunny who plays sport saying something shocking and appalling.
-

I sort of enjoyed the game as it reminded me of what great tackling skills these guys have.

Sure the attacking options were poor but the way 13 ultra motivated defenders can bring down people every time is pretty cool.

The Blues were by far the better team but just couldn't get it done even though their sets were far superior. I guess the Queensland spirit prevailed because the maroons were defending for ages and were exhausted but still for the last half hour they held the blue team out.

Not pretty game but pretty brutal in defines.

That Greg Bird is a weird one - vile reputation, not an overly big guy but shit he hits hard head on. He's a niggly bastard but gets through a ton of tackles. I choose to dislike him but if he was in my team I'd consider him a "mischievous rogue" instead of the total fuckstick he appears to be.

Listening to commentators running the game down and hassling the officials as they do is just plain weird
-
The thing I didn't like about the game and the way it was officiated is that the refs allowed a hell of a lot of wrestling on the ground. This affected the Blues more last night because just when it looked like they got go forward the Maroons were allowed to wrestle and slow the ball more than the refs have permitted all season.

Did Foran have a gambling problem? If so then he may be under some extra scrutiny...

-

Hope it doesn't turn out that like drug cheating announcement from a while back with the Sharks and some AFL teams - remember how that agency was talking about the darkest day ever in Aussie sport etc and while it was serious it wasn't the end of the world.

The fact it's starting with the police rather than the NRL integrity unit makes me think this will have legs.

Staggers me though. The vast majority of these guys (esp the ones that might influence a game) are on very good coin. The 50k bandied about is a lot of money, but the risks seem to outweigh the gain? Surely players know that with salary caps etc their income, and maybe even lifestyle, are being checked as part of those systems. Maybe 50k is enough to take the gamble but small enough to hide easily?

Good to see the NRL sending a clear message - life bans if found guilty is not fucking about. Wonder if that might soften if it turned out to be an ORIGIN player!!
-

Hmmm, I've just clicked there's no rugby on this weekend! So looks like I'm going to have to watch the Warriors.

It could be ok, because ORIGIN is the time where they start winning a few games due to ORIGIN and that papers over the cracks for a while.

Gimme a cowboys vs broncos game and I'll watch it every week!

QUEENSLANDER!!!!

Pity they don't have Cowboys v Broncos every weekend, sometimes you get Newcastle v the Warriors.
-

Foran is mentioned in this article, not good to be associating with these types.

well you'd have to think with Manly being involved in both games, the players involved will be from Manly?

It would near impossible to fix a game to win (to get high odds from an 'upset') as opposed to fixing to lose, but even to fix a game to lose, needs to be at least 2 players, and you'd think in reasonably influential positions too.

While the cops probably have some decent information to go public on it as they have, it sucks for the majority of players involved in the games that are innocent, but will no doubt have thier names bandied about, so surely waiting until they actually have it nailed, then go public?
-

Veitch has said on his radio show that tomorrow newspaper in Sydney will release names of players involved in the NRL match fixing scandal. He claims that he has seen this list and he says that they are "icon" players in the NRL.

Could be an interesting day tomorrow. The newspaper would have to be sure of its facts because otherwise a libel suit could be expensive.
-

Warriors Bandwagon...

What the fuck.

No rugby this weekend, so was actually looking forward to this game - all the while knowing that watching the Warriors in their current form could cause the remote to spontaneously launch itself at the television screen.

So I get home, switch on the sports news and whadda ya know - they've already friggin played, and actually won. Convincingly.

Cant believe a; I've cocked up the time of the only game of footy this weekend, and b; those 'fittest ever' bloody pill poppers have gone and won! -

While all the hype has been around the Broncos and the Cowboys , the Storm have just gone quietly about their business and now sit top of the ladder ,

Their young forward pack is looking the real deal , possibly the best in the business and the good news for Kearney it has 5 kiwis in it
-

Warriors always dust up either Melbourne or Brisbane at home each season so this was expected following on from Origin. Until they can back it up (and the next two games the Warriors need to win - Newcastle and Roosters) they're still out of the playoffs.

Coaching rumour mill is the Warriors are targeting Brad Arthur of Parramatta.
-

Broncos bounce back from Mt Smart smarting.
-

Could it get any worse for Manly? They've now lost Steve Matai for the season.
