Cricket 2021: NZ in England and WTC Final

I was puzzled by the rush to get the injured mullet back into the side. CDG better perform with the ball, given Matt Henry or last test centurion Daryl Mitchell were other options.
And Kyle Jamieson is well and truly filling that bowling all rounder slot these days.

Wouldn’t be NZ cricket without a collapse. The good ol’ times are back!

Santner is a playing foodbill in tests.
I'd forgotten the disdain I have for him in white. Really really fond of him in black though!

314 for 7 at lunch . England's morning. Game on.
Looks to me about 380-400 pitch. England will be very happy indeed if NZ make less than that. Glad Conway is still there.
Kylo needs to stay there and Conway to make his 200. We can't depend on Timmy for anything with the bat, but Wags has the ability and the determination to be a nuisance for a while. If we can get another 100 that would be great. Anything more will be gravy at this point

@chris-b do test teams need a spinner everytime nowadays, regardless of the wicket though? I suspect they do need one. Variation, big partnership distracting, resting the quicks, holding up an end and then just because you can feel nude without one even if you don't use him - like the poms felt yesterday. Aussie will often hardly bowl Lyon at all some days.
Can't believe a place that gave a home to warne will be a "spinners need not apply" greentop.
Maybe they've already got him in the side for the big dance?
He is what he is. Agree on the bowling priority, I just wish he wouldn't bat like he's playing backyard cricket at the Battersea boys home for the Downs syndrome !

I’m going to give Conway the ultimate platitude: O for awesome.

Devon (according to my count) up to 7th highest score in his debut innings.
RE Foster 287
J Rudolph 222*
L. Rowe 214
Skippy 214
B. Kuruppu 201*
S Dhawan 187
D. Conway 179*Probably won't have the partners to surpass Foster - even if he carries his bat!
