Fark that's nice.

For the NBN, my area has just changed to "Build Commenced" so I could potentially be only 12 months away from Fibre to the Node, enabling whizz bang speeds of 25mbps! Actually that will be four times what I get now, so I should be a good little consumer and not complain too much.

I love how NBNCo are bullshitting their way through FTTN, like this article: http://www.nbnco.com.au/corporate-information/media-centre/media-releases/nbn-co-confirms-successful-fttn-speed-test.html

The caveat for all speeds listed with an asterisk is:

*NBN Co provides services to its wholesale customers, telephone and internet service providers, and does not provide services directly to end users. This trial involved testing speeds over physical network layers rather than end user speeds. End user experience including the speeds actually achieved over the NBN depends on some factors outside our control like equipment quality, software, broadband plans and how the end user’s service provider designs its network.

I bought a backup modem and it is NBN ready apparently. I'll hold off on configuring it until I know what the fuck is happening.

In the meantime I might just buy myself a new 16 port PoE switch to pass the time. Or rewire my cabinet to a different spot in the garage.

And yes, I know: first world problems.

With third world internet.
-

I just want to bitch that I live in a Brisbane suburb that in the last 5 - 10 years has been developed into a quite a mini city - they are expecting 450 000 people to be living in the area within the next few years. You would think that while they were building they would have set things up for the internet. But No. I have to have wireless 4g internet. I am lucky enough to get 8gigs a month for around $70 -$80. No sign of the NBN for the foreseeable future. Fucktards.

That is what I'm using to track the rollout. It is painfully slow.
-

I haven't been to Waipatiki since I was about 4. It's always easier to go to Ocean.
-

Well Nepia, I went to Ocean last week and believe it or not, I couldn't even get parked! Not good. Mind you Waipatiki now has actual streets which are full of glass, aluminium and cedar two-storied "baches".

Things have gone downhill ever since Piggy Muldoon left office if you ask me. :ireful:
-

We're (my family) are from Ocean - it always gets crazy busy on the hot days. A few years ago the Lowe Corporation were trying to develop Ocean Beach into a seaside community but thankfully it didn't go ahead.
-

For fuck's fucking sake...

Something must have hit the fan with the local exchange, because my shit just fell off an internet cliff.

This was peak speed I could get any time after 7PM tonight - everything else was under 3.0Mbps

I get that regularly at home - will be fine for a while and then slow down so that I remember the days of dial up.

I'm trying to move to a place on the NBN.
-

Struggling to hit 2mbps this morning.

I'm on one of the test ports on the frame - apparently Telstra ran out of regular ports because they were unable to comprehend what "growth corridor" means. And because I'm on Telstra copper with Exetel, I pay an extra $10 a month for the privilege.

fluffybunnies.

Now Exetel have various Sri Lankan support "technicians" asking me to ping things. They even sent me a script, which I promptly modified with better accuracy, and sent back to them with results.

So hard to get good help these days. Wish these fluffybunnies would hurry up:

I don't have the option to move to a better area. Fucking mortgage. We made an offer on a place when be bought this one - it had FTTP but wife didn't like the kitchen :ireful:
-

Lucky bastard. I'm stuck on ADSL, it's fucking atrocious. Can't even stream one video without it freezing intermittently. Bad times.

Kellyville exchange is due for FTTN some time around September. Fortunately I'm on copper that is only a few years old so will probably be able to aspire to something higher than 25mbps
-
I got my fibre installed today - pretty happy with the results
