Looks like one good propping prospect on the horizon in Joseph Gavigan.
Incredible article. After reading it, we still don't know where Gavigan plays : LHP or THP ?

@stargazer Hurricane's at their finest. That's disgraceful if that's actually the way Marshall found out he wasn't wanted.
-
@canes4life Yep, that's why I posted it. I couldn't believe what I read, and then again, it wouldn't surprise me either.

I knew the Hurricanes board were nuts but this is beyond belief. What a tugboat.
As a fan, I hope he is stripped of having anything to do with the Hurricanes moving forward.

They can't, cos he owns part of the canes. He'd have to want to step down. That was my admin deleted point above, not political, but an organisation that can tell someone they don't have a contract via the big screen obviously has someone like that twat on their board. Canes are going/gone they way the blues went. Dysfunctional from the top down. I hope the canes boys strike until that twat stands down

Ian Taylor, who I assume is also on the board, was on the am show this morning. Basically said he stays because they need his money. Well that's awesome, we have a guy on my team's board who thinks he can act like a 24 carat fluffybunny just because he has some skin in the game. And the rest of the board are willing to let him do it

What in the Sam Hill is going on with this Hurricanes Board member?
IS that fair dinkum?? Did he really write that?? What a massive tool if so.

@hooroo in this day and age, surely he'd not be that stupid to post stuff like that?
He has alot of companies where he is listed as a director, a bunch he has been removed or ceased as director...not that that makes you rich.

That's what I was thinking. It's one thing to look all tough in his position at the Canes but it's another when you're also the face of a few decent enterprises.
This is fascinating to watch play out.

a quick google gives him a net worth about 100 mil. i get the feeling he isnt a snowflake and wont give in and resign from board. which will make it interesting for TJ. he was happy to take his money and resign with hurricanes.
think like most things this will just blow over and be a non thing in a week but at same time going to be interested to see if it doesnt -
@ploughboy It certainly will. If TJ Perenara is unhappy with his bosses then he is at liberty to resign and take his trade to other areas where he is less likely to be offended eg the NRL like he indicated he was seriously considering. He then, or course, opens up to being sued for breach of contract ie not fulfilling the terms and conditions of the contract he signed not that long ago.

To rephrase that, TJP is not at liberty to resign because he'd breach his contract and could be sued if he did. He and players who agree with him (I assume there will be quite a few) are between a rock and a hard place, but they can take a stand by speaking up, like he did.
But similarly, the Hurricanes are in a difficult position, because Bowker isn't an employee and they can't fire him. And they'd need to find another sponsor first to fill the hole in their finances if they asked him to withdraw (and he'd do as asked, which I somehow doubt he'd do, because he's such a d*ck).
-
@stargazer isnt he also a shareholder, and they also cant force him to sell, and I doubt they could afford to buy him out by making him an offer a wealthy businessman would be stupid to turn down.
-
@taniwharugby Yes, that's what I meant.
