@Bovidae He used to cop a bit of tall poppy shit but he was also instrumental in Jonah's early days of steering him onto the good track.
Has done a massive amount of work for CM too so gets my gratitude for that.

Croydon police officer shot dead named as Sgt Matt Ratana
Tributes are paid to the "much-loved" and "talented officer" who was killed in a London custody centre.
A long-serving police officer shot dead in a custody centre in south London has been named as Sgt Matiu Ratana aged 54.
New Zealand-born Sgt Ratana was two months away from retirement when he was shot in the chest in Croydon on Friday.
The 23-year-old suspect is then thought to have turned the firearm on himself. He remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick described the police sergeant as "a big guy" who was "big in heart".
"He was very well known locally and he will be remembered so fondly in Croydon and missed there, as well as in the Met and the rugby world," she said.
A minute's silence was held at 16:00 BST at New Scotland Yard and Croydon Police Station to pay tribute to the officer.
Sgt Ratana, who was known as Matt, had served with the Met for almost 30 years having moved to the UK in 1989.
The 54-year-old was originally from the Hawke's Bay area of New Zealand and was educated at Palmerston North Boy's High School's, a town north of the capital, Wellington.
He had served with the Met in various parts of London including Hackney and Selhurst, with his last posting as custody sergeant in Croydon, where he managed suspects who are brought into the cells.
He was on duty in that role at the Windmill Road centre when he was shot dead at about 02:15.
The BBC has been told the shooting happened during questioning of the suspect about Covid-19.
Outside work Sgt Ratana was a highly experienced rugby union coach, leading teams in Worthing, close to Goring-by-Sea where he then lived and in East Grinstead, where he was living when he died.
Ryan Morlen, assistant head coach at East Grinstead Rugby Club, described the 54-year-old as "an absolutely lovely bloke".

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and possession of ammunition.
He was handcuffed with his hands behind his back and taken to the Croydon Custody Centre in a police vehicle, before being escorted into the building.
The shots were fired as officers prepared to search the suspect, who was still handcuffed, with a metal detector, the IOPC said.
"A non-police issue firearm, which appears to be a revolver, has been recovered from the scene. Further ballistic work will be required," said IOPC regional director Sal Naseem.

Bit shocked when I saw the name. Actually knew Matt when he lived near Bourne End/Marlow in the early 2000's and gave me and my kids tennis lessons at the local tennis club. Had more than a few beers with him after the lessons.
The club was a bit snooty and didn't quite know how to handle the "gee whiz" maori bloke who turned out to be a degree-educated policeman... think he used to enjoy that.

Max Merritt - who died overnight aged 79 - is best known for 'Slipping Away', a Kiwi anthem from the mid-1970s. But his career stretches all the way back to the very beginning of rock and roll in New Zealand.
I bet ‘journalists’ have been waiting years just to use this line.
Hopefully Jake the Muss is raising a quart bottle as a tribute....

Staple band in NZ in the 60's - seemed on TV all the time.
Some NZ music royalty started their careers with Max Merritt over the years - Billy Christian & Bruno Laurence in particular. For that he deserves a big thumbs up.

Mentions he was selected "After a strong showing for the South Island", but my memory was he dominated in the early game at the All Black Trial (they used to play two, and the main contenders played the later games, fringe players the curtain raiser) so much, scored all his team's points, that they couldn't leave him out. But memories from 40 years ago aren't always accurate.

It's still a thing. I remember listening to Radio sport a few years back the morning after an AB loss. Some old bloke whinged that Richie McCaw had let him down personally and that he made much better decisions when he captained the ( insert generic bumfuck New Zealand town ) under 21s back in 1959.
Apparently that's the same amount of pressure as a test match in South Africa in front of 60,000 Afrikaaners. .

I think that is Johnny Dick as the drummer but they did swap a bit.
I have just discovered that Max shared "musos" with Ray Columbus, who sadly is also gone.
Ray was my ex bosses neighbour, and then my parents neighbour for years. NZ really is a small place.
The music was before my time but my parents forced it on me so brings back some memories.

I follow him on FB. Cool dude and a hell of a bass player. I guess he chose that name to make him appear a bit more mortal to those of us who didn't make it quite as big as he did in the music world.
