Indian Cricket Tour of NZ 2020

Anyway - great stuff racking up a convincing 2-0 victory over India.
I think with the focus shifting toward T20 cricket, I think we need to look carefully at the personnel we've used in that format and perhaps look towards some of our best cricketers, rather than some of the more hit and miss players we've selected in recent times.

Can't believe that was potentially the last game with Smithy, Coney, and Waddle on the airwaves.
that is a very sad sentence. Those gentlemen deserve to be held in the highest of esteem.

A little emotional at the end when Doull and Smith were summing up the last 20 years of home cricket on Sky.
They've done a great job. Will be interesting to see what Spark's coverage will be like. Do they even have a broadcasting arm to provide coverage?

I can only take one positive from the end of RadioSport coverage, the rest is all rage and despair, but I have almost certainly heard the last of Garth "Drawn out irrelevant personal anecdote" Galloway. He had all those years of listening to his father and didn't learn one damn thing.

If cricket isn't on radio next summer, it is a massive loss for the game in this country. Cricket is well suited to that format and it keeps people interested who wouldn't sit down and watch a whole day's play.

I agree.
But, we're really in the minority. NZME were saying it costs them to host it - so they don't want to pay; NZC want money for it. I don't get it - if I was the ICC, I'd offer free online cricket commentary to anyone who wants it.
Radio Sport started as just a cricket station in summer. Ironic that they're finishing as a 'sport' radio station without the cricket. Huh.
I hope most of the good commentators get picked up by whoever does it. Particularly Wads - what a legend. he used to have to singlehandedly commentate test matches ball by ball... so damn difficult, and he makes it soudn easy.

I'll be very annoyed if the only ways to access cricket next year are online.
For those who live in the country and don't have the option to get fucking Spark's broadcast, we should at least have the option of traditional radio.
Especially, when I get in the car, I want to be able to tune into the cricket.

Anyone know how it will affect Black Cap coverage in Aus?

@nzzp NZC has shown their greed with choosing Spark over Sky and not renewing Radio Sport's contract. It's all about the money.
Disagree with the first one, but not the second. Radio is such a small part of their income, it's worth supporting the coverage. This appears shortsighted - but we'll have to wait and see what the coverage is like.
Frankly, our entire domestic cricket calendar is paid for by the inbound Indian tour. If the rest of the cricket is on Sky or Spark I honestly don't care; if free to air carried sport still, then there's a good argument for compromising on money to increase the reach. That boat has well and truly sailed now, though,a nd I'm not even sure the 'yoof' watch TV any more. So fine, just take the fattest cheque, and see what happens.
Also, I think they got the pricing wrong for the indian tour. It was over 60 bucks for a lousy T20, just not great value at all for my perspective, particularly finishing around midnight. Now I'm just old and grumpy

In other cricket news - the White ferns have messed up the T20 World cup and been eliminated.
Lost to both Australia and India by about 4 runs apiece - by leaving too much to do late.
In both instances, Amelia Kerr and Katey Martin launched strong late charges, but were left with too much to do.
To be fair Martin helped leave herself too much to do and taking 10 runs off the last 2 deliveries was closing the door after the horse had bolted.

I think overseas rights are always negotiated with the hosts on a tour by tour basis. So Sky could cover it all still (or Spark, or TV3)...

I'm pretty sure Sky still has rights to all the overseas Black Caps fixtures.
But, I think @Crazy-Horse is asking who in Oz will carry the Spark broadcasts. No idea.

Sky TV still have the overseas rights. So if you are in NZ and want to watch cricket at home and abroad you need to subscribe to Spark and Sky. What a clusterfuck thanks to NZC and the consumers lose

Spark don't have onsite broadcasting capability do they? They will probably have to pay sky TV's OSB to do it....
