All Black Coach - Ian Foster

Seriously underwhelmed by this lot of coaches.
Seriously concerned for the next couple of years of AB rugby - its been a heck of a ride from late 2004 through this to year. Ridiculous amount of success. Maybe the last golden age of world rugby. -

Did you read Razor's list though?
I don't think this crop is that bad save for the retention of McLeod, but I rate Plumtree more than most and can see pathways for Gatland/Schmidt/Razor himself to be involved before this cycle is over.
-
Razor and Brad Mooar don’t get along. That’s why he didn’t go with him. Apparently they clashed a lot , but we’re both professional enough to put the team first.
-
Glad Plumtree is there. Improvement from Cron?
-
Cron's role has been replaced by Feek. Plumtree is coaching the forwards which was a role undertaken by Steve Hansen himself. It's hard not to feel like this team is inferior in every aspect to the the previous coaching team, and the one before that.
-
Who knows, we have months to wail and gnash over it.
It was clear Hansen was getting stale, and I'd wager he still called the shots, some had said several years ago our scrummaging, all over NZ was being taught the Cron way and was becoming stale and less of a weapon.
Maybe Fozzie will have some new ideas and manage his team well, similarly Feek and Plumtree who seem to have fashioned decent careers under others, Moar I know less about, McLeod, well at times our defence was miserly, others it was shit.
This team will be starting with a relayively clean slate too in terms of player personnel, a new captain, sans one of our best performers over the past 4 or 5 years; so it is the ushering in of a new era...whether that is good or bad remains to be seen.
At least the next 2 years wont be boring...it might suck, or might be great, but I cant see it being boring.
-
Cron was always going to be very difficult to replace, those are huge shoes to fill. Feek isn’t a terrible choice.
-
@taniwharugby @sparky @Darren I think we will be gnashing / scowling / snarling for a whille yet....and I think there will be plenty to gnash over....
However the proof is in the pudding, and they ALL have 2 yerars to show us eaxtly what they can do. Who knows? They may come up trumps (can I say that?) or they may be scythed down with the first tornado, but it will be interesting, I grant you that... -
its a strange feeling right now, hopefully will all change next year
maybe the hum drum performance in that semi had a lot to do with it, and we have been spoilt with some great times
Cant remember feeling this unenthused with the All blacks,
and then the announcement of that coaching panel is not helping
-
Bring on Ireland.
That is all.
-
@ACT-Crusader There was only one team more stale than the ABs at the RWC....
-
That RugbyPass article sets out on for the "for" arguments for Foster. But not even his greatest detractor (i.e. me) thinks the man is completely without merit.
What it omits entirely is the other 90% of being a head coach -- selection (both players and support staff), management of personal issues, game preparation, dealing with the bad times etc.
I have little doubt that the 2020 ABs will turn on some master-classes in attacking rugby.
