@antipodean yeah, fair enough, but as i said, most people i talked to in real life felt it was justified so im not sure it was JUST a few loud people on the internet
Actions speak louder than words. He garnered vast sums of donations in 2 days! People's money vs their words. Worth noting
Though I can't resist adding - those donations should surprise no-one, and may or may not prove wide ranging support - given his particular core support base makes a habit of tithing at least 10% of their income every week.

@kirwan so he had no social media amendment in his contract, im surprised he settle then, you would think he could have got his job back
no added without his consent though, proposed and not agreed too
Incorrect. He was fired due to that clause, even though he never signed it. RA had to settle (millions of dollars) because of that.
-
@kirwan ok, the article said they put it too him and he was advised by his agent not to sign it and so he didn't
"Folau was first presented with the addendum the day after signing his contract, October 10, but was advised against signing it by his agent, Isaac Moses."
which looks like it was presented...not agree too...but RA acted as if it had been

Why are we doing this all again? It's just the same people saying the same things as they did before. We're all just wasting our time here, nobody is changing their mind. Much like the saga itself, as @Siam accurately said - there are no winners here.
Even by Fern standards this is all a bit much...
Certainly both parties lost out here to some degree, but lets not pretend they lost equally - especially after the players' wages were garnished last year. Foloau may well have received more in the settlement than he would have if he had have performed the contract.
The ARU paid a bulk of his contract, lost his services and then lost the sponsor the whole charade was aimed to retain.

signed to play in japan now he has his release from Catalan?

@kiwiwomble lol uncle Clive is going to love that ha ha

yeah, not claiming i know it all...but it looks a bit...convenient, for all we know NTT paid to get him out of contract
-
@kiwiwomble perhaps, but I just read when Clives party were asked to comment, they replied its all bullshit until they were shown the media release

they might have been better coming up with some BS like "it was all about the principle anyway and we're just happy he playing somewhere"

@kirwan i hadn't heard it was done without his consent, surely he had the version he signed without the changes?
As I recall the ever so clever ARU chief executive had no appreciation of the nature and import of "entire agreement", which is one of the earliest lessons they teach at chief executive's kindy classes.
There was an attempt to add a "side agreement" after signing, the sort of thing that brings a broad smile to a solicitor's face, and a quiet but firm "No."
Oooops - late to the discussion I see, mistook this as a current rehash.

fuck the NRL is absolutely killing it
First we have the refs completely robbing the Tigers
Then Proctor commits Titans suicide by social media (off to the Dolphins?)
And now 7 dickheads from Manly won't play this weekend because the jersey has a rainbow stripe on it.Religious beliefs isn't it? Clearly that doesn't extend to wearing a jersey sponsored by a gambling company and a liquor company. Just anything that suggests they support queers. Dicks

yep, dicks.
They need to win this game too, so nice work boys. I bet the rest of the team is just ecstatic. -
And, just for a change, Paul Kent is making himself look like a fluffybunny, and saying this is a bad look for Manly
He's just begging for his Sky News spot

Wasn't pride month ages ago?
Quite frankly this ridiculous symbolism is getting tiring anyway. If as an organisation you need to proclaim you aren't out discriminating, hang some bunting.

I wouldn't normally join these kind of arguments/conversations but I just can't agree with you two.
From a Christian perspective it's one thing to have to play in a jersey that is sponsored by companies who sell things you don't agree with. But it's complete next level to have to wear something that is trying to celebrate something you disagree with.
I mean most people would wear something sponsored by Tobacco etc, but to wear something celebrating it?!....
And also it sounds like they were unaware of it until they were told they have to wear it this week
