@booboo boo, I still can't imagine the rugby fan who doesn't understand what's meant by a knockdown in the failed intercept context in which it's always spoken in. If someone intercepts a pass, successfully propelling the ball backwards, that won't be described as a knockdown?
Who are these people who can't decipher that? It's political correctness gone mad! 😉

Exciting game to watch. A fair flood of relief at the Hunt try, then the Banks kick out.
We looked off the boil for sure. A lack of intensity, illustrated by the tackling and handling was, irritating.
Scrums and lineout got better but they're a big work on. Not sure Maugers team has the same mongrel Jamie's teams had, but that's needed too.
Still, 2 last quarter wins is a grand start and there's enough talent there to work with.
Hope Thompson's ok
Dixon took some good lineout and seemed involved at the end.
Aaron Smith is sure taking the super season full on.The non yellow for the knockdown that also travelled forward, 😏, is another glaring example of inconsistent procedures in refereeing. Not one of the 4 could have communicated that that was a textbook pro foul, a clear cut 3 on 1 with space? The epitome of what that sanction is designed to prevent. No tmo interruption for that law break huh? All the mics not working?
Good day of kiwi team supporting today too

@rotated I know he's making sure he doesn't get isolated but his little ruckbase sniping has big potential. He often evades the first defender but then jinks himself to a standstill. I'd love to see him persevere and back himself with some of those wee runs

You don't read the Fern?
It's come up here numerous times.
I've come across it during games too (not that I've played for 5 years) with idiots screaming "he's knocked it down! He's knocked it down!" When some bloke knocked it backwards.
And again knocking the ball down is legal.
People listen to commentators who describe things wrong and then understand things wrong.

@booboo banning words that functional people universally understood started this fucked up world. Word Nazis just further entrenched it 😁👍
Not suggesting banning it, just wanting people to describe things correctly.

Frizell really impressed me with some solid hits on D and he wasn't afraid to do the hard yards and showed some impact. I really hope he gets plenty of game time to build on his solid foundation. A Smith was good which is very promising, he must be using different toilets this year as last year his form really hit the bathroom floor.
I am really surprised none of the coaches can see the frailties of Li and he really does not suit the way rugby is going. The back three are becoming so important in the way they collect the high ball, read defence and cover space. I don't think a winger who can just outrun or muscle people is ever going to work again.
L Whitlock also keeping Rueben Thorne happy as I think he made it through the thread without being noticed.

Uh two words. SET PIECE. Hillbillies need to work on their D, Reds appeared to slip / break tackles at will.Fucking Li came up out of the line countless times too, i.e why the Reds were flooding his channel. Coltman looking substandard - core role = scrum and LO son!
BFA had an off day. Frizzle impressed. A Smith was very good. J Ioane solid. Injuries to midfield may be a concern. In the end home advantage got them across the line. Little too close for comfort for mine. That is all. -

Funnily enough, I've literally just had a post deleted, fuck knows why. It was one saying I agree with @booboo
Anyway, the issue is that people don't understand it. People literally think that knocking the ball down is an offence. We even have people saying that there should be a penalty if you try to slap a ball back and it goes forward.
How do we go about getting informed about why an innocuous post is deleted? And who actually is @Booboo_is_a_tool ?

@Bones Well you guys have obviously seen more balls travel downwards at exactly 90 degrees, because any handling error without a sanction is invariably described as "back" or "backwards".
Again, in the context of a one handed failed intercept using knocked down is hardly a major crime against literacy. -

@Bones The ref's said it twice already in a half of rugby in chch.
Sigh. Nevermind.
Good, hopefully the adult rugby fans on this site won't be further subjected to this type of condescension:

I've been around enough people crying that knock downs should be penalties/cards, etc to completely understand the issue. I'm sorry you can't. How's that for condescending?
