Who does TSF want to be the next AB coach?

Tyrone Lue is available

@sparky said in Who does TSF want to be the next AB coach?:
Tony Brown has thrown his hat in the ring. Makes sense as an Assistant Coach but not the top job.
Razor looking like the firm favourite now, especially if the Crusaders win a third title.
Even if Hansen wins the World Cup??
In which case the favorite would have to be Foster (unfortunately) wouldn't it? -

Foster is not the answer. To any question.

Razor appears to be the 'manager' type that would be competing to take over from Shag in a similar way to Foster would.
I like the innovative thinking of Brown which would bring some fresh ideas.
Question for me would be Foster/Brown or Razor/Brown.O'Halloran is another in the vein of Brown that I rate highly. He looks to have attached himself to team Rennie though.

Schmidt is the outstanding HC out of all Candidates followed by Gatland & Razor
Razzor needs to coach in Europe to learn more about different styles and ideas
Schmidt has coached in France & Ireland and has had success in both places
Plus Irish have an excellent record vs NZ while he's been Head Coach
Gatland would've been a close 2nd if he was available but he'll be likely coaching B & I Lions in SA in 2021

Sounds like it will be foster by default then. Fuck that

Henry wasn't appointed until the week of Christmas in 2003 (only remember this as was on holidays back in NZ at the time) so an early January appointment wouldn't be crazy.
The Home Nations and EU club rugby appointments will already be made. Australia is the only role going that would have once attracted potential AB candidates and they are broke. They could honestly wait until after Waitangi Day to pop an ad in the paper and get the same slate of candidates.

No need for the appointment to be made until January or even early February. Personally I am glad they are taking their time and won't be bounced by the decisions other teams are making.
The interview to be All Blacks coach will be the toughest for any position in global sport with some of the finest Rugby minds in the world on the panel. We are looking for someone with the values, vision, drive and skills who can lead the most sucessful and iconic team in world sport forward for the next 4 to 12 years.
I think they know already that Razor and Foster will apply. Not fully convinced that Gatland and Schmidt won't apply either. I can't think of a better job in the world.

Tell me you didn’t type that with a straight face.

Lions Legacy Time

Much easier (and more lucrative) situation than coming back and trying to start at the bottom of the ABs setup or even back to Super Rugby. Never say never but I think the ABs have passed him by

Who cares? A sullen taciturn coach is yesterday’s man as far as nz rugby is concerned. You not only need to be able to coach you also have to be a bit likeable imo. Following the Mitchell debacle.

If Fozzie gets the gig I am fairly certain he will be in the AB set up in an elevated assistant role (Wayne Smith) by the 2021 EOYT at the latest.
