2020 All Blacks Squad

@KiwiMurph Ooops, yeah, true. I'll rephrase. I don't think they would be next year, though, unless he shows a lot of improvement compared to 2018. And to show that, he needs to get opportunities to play at 10. With Plummer and Black ahead of him in the Blues pecking order, those opportunities will be rare this year if Plummer and Black can stay injury free and play well. Whether he'll get them for the Blues next year, depends also on whether they re-sign Black.

@Tim so basically Gregor drawing conclusions from media articles and sound bites?
I used to like his articles (going back a few years) but he seems to have turned into a bit of a lazy hack trying (not as hard as Twats and Treason) for clicks.

@taniwharugby I thought his claim that only Foster and Cotter would apply was interesting.

I reckon there is some merit in the claim. Either there are some coaches out there that are keeping their powder dry to see how the WC goes or they simply don’t want to apply.

@ACT-Crusader The reasoning that some didn't want to wait until after the world cup to secure a job was fairly sound, I thought.

Why do people keep insisting Goodhue is a 12?
Because, just like us backs think 1 and 3 are interchangeable, dumb ex forwards thing 12 and 13 are as well.
As an aside, Nonu showed the other day that in the current game even a small loss of first steps pace through age will be exposed by a younger skilled player in the wider channels.
There was a good reason that Umaga moved from 14 to 13 to 12 as he got older.Goodhue played regularly as a second five eight for Northland in the Mitre 10 Cup. I am not as dumb as you think I am.

Yes you are
Until I see Goodhue playing 12 regularly at Super level then he isn't in the mix to play 12 at internationals.
I'm fairly sure that's what @Bones was getting at as well.Crotty and ALB are interchangeable at 12/13. Nonu isn't, nor are SBW and Laumape unless against a minnow team. Goodhue possibly has the ability but not the experience (just like ALB was until injury needs forced the selectors to test him).
If that happens for Goodhue and he proves himself then great but at the moment he is in the AB picture as a 13 that could play 12 if circumstances required -

@Crucial I just don't get why with 12s coming out our ears we would want to see a proven excellent 13 shifted.
Especially when we don’t have a plethora of 13s putting their hand up. If I were selecting for a test next week I’d go
12 Crotty
13 Goodhue23 ALB

How did I know that before you posted it?

I know. People get John Hart fever pretty quickly when trying to shoehorn in their favourites.
If Sam Cane comes right for the RWC we can always use Ardie at 12 to get him in the starting XV.
