DMac is there over Mo’unga because several NZ rugby journalists and the AB’s brains trust seem to be blindly in love with the razzle dazzle and “exciting risk taking” of DMac. Which is so amazing that we have to convert him to first five so he can cause even more damag... err... sorry... exciting plays.
Yeah, I’m still sulking about last week.
DMac is the RWC2019 Marc Ellis. There to beat up some minnow on a flat track. Please please please lets have BB and Mounga in the first choice 23 for the important games.
Some people are being a little unfair to DMac. He is #2 because he 'won' the position by playing well against the French. Hansen likes players who has done the job for him in the past and he has done that. I don't recall a lot about Marc Ellis but D Mac is no flat track bully. He is one of the best attacking players in the game. He is probably the best player in the world at creating something from nothing. His problem is that he makes glaring errors (interceptions and charge downs). Even when Beauden isn't on form, it's rare he is a liability.
Maybe you lose a game 12-6 with D Mac playing but more often the score isn't going to be close like that when he is out there.

Two things.

How the fuck is Fifita an AB? No work rate, no impact and he was walking around like he had been going for 80 mins instead of 5. If i had to pick a Canes loose forward for the ABs it eoukd be Evans.
-
Has a deliberate knock down really jumped from a penalty to an automatic yellow card as the commentators seem to keep suggesting? Or are they talking shit again. Either way im sick of these things. Turning me off the game big time.
If a deliberate knock down is ever going to be a yellow, Tamanivalu basically had to go. You can dive and catch a rugby ball but he only dived with one out stretched hand. I think a deliberate knock should only be a yellow if it is also a professional foul but that isn't how it has been ruled.

He's a 'special athlete'.
He's not on the plane to Yokohama yet

"I don't recall a lot about Marc Ellis"
All you need to know about Marc Ellis is why is famous from a RWC perspective. He is famous for it due to a similar characteristic he shares with DMac. Not just being an outside back moved inside but he also looks for what is on for himself first because he backs himself (in my opinion). Its both what makes him good and bad (in a team game) at the same time.

Canes need a new attack coach. Carlos is coming in next year so hope he can full this role because the current one is completely and utterly hopeless. For example why not try Aso starting at 2nd with Laumape coming on with 20 left to try and smash through as an alternative. Team needs to try variety not a limited boring game plan
What I hope is the coaches change has disrupted things and they can right the ship next year. As the team has been disappointing to watch this year. They look like they are just going through the motions with no real fire or enthusiasm.
But the Crusaders at full strength (two years running now) are difficult to beat at home. Especially against an injury depleted (two years running now - Canes need to look at conditioning staff etc as its getting to the point where questions need to be asked) poorly coached Canes side.
I hope the Canes can sort this slump out as I find watching them a bit boring now. Losing and exciting I don't mind too much. Losing and boring I do

Looking at that effort from the Canes, the Chiefs were robbed. They would have at least given the Crusaders something to think about and a fight to the death. Most of that 2nd half was a half-hearted effort from the Canes.

You need to recruit DMac then....

Taufua hasn’t been the same since they move him to 6.
Fixed. He is clearly a better 8 than a 6.

But the same level of effort just isn’t there regardless of the number of his jersey.
Looks very laboured and is not carrying ball strong.

Much more disciplined effort by the Crusaders this week. Very few penalties allowing them to dominate possession - especially in the first half.
Defence was excellent - apart from letting in that soft try at the end.
Was that Siataga's first appearance for the Crusaders? On the plus side he gets about 90 seconds of play-off experience that he wasn't expecting. On the downside, he gets a broken arm.
Thought Julian Savea had a good game to sign off for the Canes. Probably looked their most threatening back - perhaps along with Perenara, who was pretty good.
Canes forwards stood up pretty well in most facets for most of the game - apart from the lineout.

Good to see Dane Coles stringing a few words together as waterboy in the post game huddle
He's one player we need fully fit and back as captain.
Will be very important in Japan too. Remember how we did vs the Lions without Coles?

Perhaps the Chiefs should have executed a little bit better last weekend.....

It’s that sort of logic that makes TSF World renowned.
We would’ve fed off Weber and DMacs mistakes all night long.

So while previously I was running alongside and only occasionally jumping on the runningboard I'm now back fully on the Crusaders' bandwagon again.
Always wanting the best result for the NZ teams I was supporting my Red and Black brethren tonight to ensure a NZ hosted final.
Am now, as a former resident of North Canterbury and descendant of Cantab ancestors, discovering an ability to play the banjo that manifests only around Super Rugby play-off time.
Go Saders.

I wouldn't look at that family tree too closely if I was you. The same names might repeat themselves in different places

Probably something like 31-32...
