If you can believe The Mole on twitter, it appears that the Warriors can't fit Isaac Luke under the cap and he will sign with the Newcastle Knights.
I'm not unhappy about that, especially if he was on good coin
He was basically the reason we made the finals.
he absolutely was not "basically the reason".
Bah, semantics. Without him we don't make the finals.
I'm not sold on that. He was only good when everyone else was good. Luke looked better this year because we got good starts to our sets from the back 3, and our forwards regularly found their bellies. In games where this didn't happen, Luke completely disappeared. He's almost as much of a downhill skier as SJ.
Yes, he had a good year, but i don't consider him a catalyst of our wins.

Ah well, agree to disagree, I don't think we get close to the finals without him - Green was getting the organising credit early on but in reality Luke should have got a bunch of that credit.
Anyway, depends on who they replace him with or if Roache is going to be a good un (I've not seen enough to really know).
-
Nathaniel Roache was always expected to be the starting hooker in 2019 so it look's like the Warriors are #trustingtheprocess
But Roache is coming off back surgery which ruled him out of the 2018 season so it's more likely he will not be the replacement (back injuries never seem to fully heal). I'm hereby putting my support on Mason Lino and Karl Lawton playing at rake.
-
@sneakdefreak Isn't Lino also rumoured to be going to Newcastle.

@nepia Everyone is rumoured to be going to Newcastle because they have so much cap space.
I don't think Lino would take up much would he?
I wonder if they need a midget prop who plays centre?
-
Lino is very average. If someone wants to pay him, then good luck to him.
Could be a very interesting off-season. The Cowboys have freed up an enormous wedge of cap space to have a crack at some established players (Valentine Holmes most openly, but possibly Cam Munster as well).

Footy finals!!
Tonight will be a spiteful grub off. Dark arts masters vs blatant grubs. These games are generally pretty close because both teams play very similar styles. No Gallen decreases the Sharks grub factor by a million, and also decreases their number of slow 4th tackle hit ups. Melbourne should win, but i somehow can't shake the feeling that the Sharks will get it. I might even put my money where my mouth is. Either way, a great player will finish their career tonight.
Tomorrow we get the Sydney derby. East v South. The Roosters have stacked their team with approximately 47 rep players who are apparently being paid in food stamps. The Bunnies have to ignore the media focusing on Sam Burgess's cock. Surely the Roosters win this (or, according to Steve Roach, it proves Cooper Cronk is no better than Mitchell Pearce. I think it's great the way Fox Sports gives jobs to the mentally deficient), but this Rabbits team can score big and quick. This will be the most entertaining game of the weekend.
I hope there is a fight.
-
Delicious. Fifita being a fuck head costs his team 6 points.
All Melbourne and Slater
-
Listen to these Fox idiots defending Slater for his shoulder charge.
‘What else is he supposed to do to stop that try?’
Um, how about make the same tackle with your arms fucktards? They’re also debating if Slater will be suspended. Come on c*^+s, this is the GF you’re talking about and Loigue loves nothing more than a fairy tale ending - he’ll be playing alright, put the house on it.
-
@gunner this from a text commentery in the guardian newspaper -
A close up of a very long-faced Cronulla bench. He’s not the prettiest of humans at the best of times, Paul Gallen, but he’s got a face like a dropped pie right about now. -
As long as Sosaia Feki wasn't injured on the play the NRL will overlook it because of the fairytale storyline and the marketing they can do with it.
Watching it online right now I have no problem with the shoulder charge to be honest.
-
I have no love for slater or Melbourne, but missing a GF for a shoulder charge to the shoulder of another bloke that doesn't hurt him seems like a gross injustice
-
@mariner4life Refs should have given a penalty try to Cronulla or send Billy to the sin bin for a professional foul though. That's what the NRL will say on Monday.
-
Another grand final appearance for Melb , 3 in a row , hasn’t been easy this year either with losing Cronk and injuries , awesome effort
-
@mariner4life it wasnt your classic shoulder charge. His left arm was up , it just didn’t wrap around. I think he should be fine. How good did he play though. Why is he retiring
